Santos Leads Chivas USA in Hunt for Playoff Spot

Maicon Santos registered his first MLS goal Sunday afternoon at the Home Depot Center to help Chivas USA defeat the visiting New England Revolution by a score of 2 - 0.

Galaxy Win, Chivas USA Routed

Landon Donovan and Jovan Kirovski each scored a goal for the Galaxy en route to a 2 - 1 victory over New England Revolution, while Chivas USA continues to struggle and gets routed 4 - 0 at the Colorado Rapids. The Galaxy pressured the New England Revolution defense from early on and quickly took control of the game at Gillette Stadium. The increasing pressure on the Revolution defense led to some errors in the back line and it wasn't long before the blue-and-gold got some quality shots on goal.

Crunch time for Chivas USA, Galaxy

Chivas USA and Galaxy take the show on the road tonight as they return to MLS action in Colorado and New England respectively. The red-and-whites return to action after a three week break which has allowed them to regroup after a series of tough results. The team recently acquired MLS veteran Marcelo Saragosa and Kevin Harmse, but despite the additions, injuries have once again become a major source of problems for the red-and-whites.

Gillette Stadium in Foxboro has not been kind to the Galaxy over the years. Last night's visit couldn't have come at a worse time given the slump in which the team has found itself for the last couple of months. However, last night's performance against New England Revolution seemed to be lacking many of the problems from past visits.

LA Dodgers defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5. While their ninth inning rally eventually stalled on Matt Kemp's pop fly to right field Saturday night, the Dodgers made sure their comeback Sunday afternoon down 4-1 in the ninth inning would not be stopped. In an almost identical situation as Saturday night Matt Kemp came to the plate with a runner on first and two outs in the ninth trailing 4-3, Kemp stayed patient at the plate until he found a pitch he liked. He promptly hit the ball to the left center gap for an RBI double to tie the game. He would score on Andre Ethier's RBI triple for the go-ahead run. This was only the second time this season the Dodgers had won a game when trailing going into the ninth, and if the Dodgers go on to win the division this game will surely be looked at as a turning point in their season.

Utah Jazz over LA Lakers 123-115 (OT). With Kobe Bryant visibly affected by a strained back, the Lakers managed to tie the game at the end of regulation after being down by 12 with four minutes to go. But come overtime, the Lakers could not ride that momentum. The Jazz in a complete role reversal got to the line 45 times as opposed to 25 by the Lakers. The series is now tied 2-2 and returns to the Staples Center on Wednesday.
