The game began with Pau controlling the tip, hitting it forward to Radmonovic who scored on a quick pull up jumper. My friend Ara turned to me and said, "He controlled it by tipping it forward and not backwards. Thats symbolic, thats deep." Ara is a philosophy major with a beard that screams wisdom, so I couldn't help but agree- As tonights game showed, I think Pau is a piece that puts us over the......

Lakers 103, Washington Wizards 91 - The game wasn’t as close as the final score indicates. The Lakers led by 22 at halftime, and led by as much as 25 points in the third quarter. Kobe Bryant, who outscored the Wizards in the first quarter 19-15, ended up with 30 points on 10-15 shooting with eight free throws. Vladamir Radmanovic, Lamar Odom and Ronny Turiaf rounded out the starters with double-figure scoring, and Sasha Vujacic......

Clippers 91, Nets 82 - Nothing like a trip to New Jersey to make you feel better about yourself. Los Angeles came into East Rutherford having lost 8-of-9. By the end of the night, it was the Nets who had lost 8-of-9. The struggling Clippers were able to pull off the W even without Elton Brand and Sam Cassell. Chris Kaman continued to impress with a team-high 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks. USC......

With a 5-3 loss last night to San Francisco, the Los Angeles Dodgers' lead in the National League West has narrowed to one game over the Padres. The next two games at Dodger Stadium will be key, as a No Cal sweep over So Cal would move the Giants into a virtual tie with the Dodgers in the NL West. One player who will have absolutely no impact in either of the remaining games against......

Trojans 87, Longhorns 68 - USC earned hard court revenge against the school that ruined their bid for a third consecutive national championship on the gridiron. The Trojans trounced Texas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the sweet sixteen for the first time since their elite eight run in 2001. The upset means USC will play North Carolina this week. Lakers 109, Timberwolves 102 - Kobe almost stole the headlines......

At the heart of the swirling vortex of NBA trade rumors this week is a whopper involving the Lakers -- the chance to bring in All-Star point guard Jason Kidd. It’s the big topic on local and national sports talk radio, basketball message boards and barstool conversations. It’s the sports talk equivalent of Anna Nicole this week. You probably don’t want to be Kidd’s wife, but being his teammate makes a lot of sense for......

Current Record: 22-22, 3rd Pacific, T-8th West Last Week: It was a good week, but not quite a great week. The one game that the Clips really needed, they struggled offensively against Minnesota, taking a double-digit loss on the chin against their primary competition for the last playoff berth in the West. However, the Clips did manage to get to .500 with two routs against undermanned Milwaukee and a crummy Seattle squad. The highlight of......

Clippers 102, Nets 101 - Guess who's back? At .500, that is. The Clippers pulled off an exciting finish after losing an 18 point lead and falling behind 100-97. Cuttino Mobley drained a trey with 0.6 second to go and handed New Jersey their third straight one-point loss on the road. Before spending the roadtrip in heartbreak hotel, the Nets had won 9 of 11. The Clippers, on the other hand, have collected four......

Tonight, when the Lakers take the floor in the underrated city of Charlotte (5:30, KCAL9), it will be their 10th game since Lamar Odom went down with a sprained knee. It also is the end of their first long road trip. How have they done through a tough stretch of the schedule without the guy assistant coach Tex Winter called “the foundation” of the team? An inconsistent but pretty good 5-4, thank you very much.......

Mavericks 115, Clippers 83 - Howard, George, and an injured Nowitzki all scored in the 20s to help Dallas hand the Clippers their sixth straight loss. The only good news for the Clippers is that Chris Kaman got 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 much needed haircut. Lakers 99, Nets 95 - New Jersey went on a 10-0 run at the end of the game, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lakers's lead. Solid......

Nuggets 103, Clippers 88 - For the second night in a row, as Sam Cassell went so went the Clip Show. Last night the eldest Clipper sprained his ankle in the second half and the team fell apart. The Nuggets won their sixth straight behind 33 from Mello. Meanwhile the Clips lost their fourth straight and are now sole residents of the cellar. Lakers 99, Nets 93 - Kobe and Lamar combined for a......

Just what do we know about this season’s Lakers after nine games? We know they can win with Kobe dragging one leg behind him (although he looked better Friday night against Toronto, to the point that Phil Jackson benched him for “imposing his will” on the game and ignoring teammates). We know that young guys like Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar and Ronny Turiaf can take on more than maybe we thought. We know Luke Walton......

Frank Gehry has been given the opportunity to intensify his (sort of) Hometown Hero status in Downtown Los Angeles instead of recent Pritzker Prize-winner Thom Mayne of Morphosis. Related Companies, the developer chosen by committee to handle the Grand Avenue Project, has selected Gehry to be the lead architect of a high rise and initially oversee design for several other buildings -- all part of the $1.8 billion complex adjacent to his insta-landmark Disney......

As most people expected, the Lakers hired Joel Meyers to be their new television play-by-play announcer. LAist can't help but be happy for the guy. Few sports announcers have paid their dues like Joel Meyers. This guy seems to show up everywhere. Listening to the NFL playoffs on the radio? There's Joel Meyers. Watching the Padres-Cubs go to 12 innings at midnight on ESPN2? There's Joel Meyers. Wake up to watch Kansas-Iowa State Big......

According to a report in the New York Daily News, the Lakers are considering Spero Dedes as their next announcer. Memo to Jerry Buss: Stop right there. Hiring Spero Dedes is a bad idea. He comes from what I like to call the "New York school" of basketball announcers, where everyone desperately tries to sound like Marv Albert. They all speak in short phrases, and throw a bit of a New York flair at......

It's days like today when we're reminded why the Clippers are the worst franchise in all of professional sports. What are they thinking? ESPN.com is reporting that the Clippers will not match Quentin Richardson's offer sheet from the Suns and instead acquire Kerry Kittles from the Nets for a second round draft pick. LAist has written on several occassions that we like Richardson, and think he's a rising NBA star. A six-year $42 million......
