You saw the video, but here's some of what went down during Weezer's music video shoot of their song "Troublemaker," as seen through the eyes of LAist photographers Tom Andrews and Michael Zampelli. Many world records were attempted, but not all were successful like the longest guitar cable used in a music video. However, they did earn five world records: Largest Air Guitar Ensemble (consisting of 233 participants), Largest Game of Dodgeball (consisting of two teams of 50), Longest Guitar Hero World Tour Marathon (lasting 10 hours 12 minutes and 54 seconds), Most People in a Custard Pie Fight (consisting of 120 people) and Most People Riding on a Skateboard (22 people managed to ride on the skateboard).

Flight of the Conchords hit Venice back in April, showing off their sexy skating skills for all the "Ladies of the World." And hey, there's no better place than Los Angeles to find all those worldly ladies -- this is one of the most diverse cities out there.
Just a mere week old on the Interwebs, this video by French DJ team Justice has already managed to cause serious controversy throughout the French media, meaning said controversy will undoubtedly cross the pond upon further exposure. The video's nascent beginnings can be traced back to Kanye West's blog, wherein he claims to be the first to have shared it on May 1st. First or not, this video is pretty cool.
We have no idea what inspired the 1986 Dodgers to make "The Baseball Boogie", which we bring to you via our sexy friends at WithLeather. Maybe it was the previous year's "Super Bowl Shuffle" phenomena. Maybe Pedro Guerrero was so bursting with creativity that the rest of the team got caught up in his enthusiasm. Maybe they knew that they would finish second-to-last that year, so they figured they it'd be more constructive to work on their choreography. Maybe they knew that in two years they'd have to toughen up, so they were getting all the musical theater out of their system. Maybe they all lost a bet to a noticeably absent Tommy Lasorda over if they could eat more hot dogs then him. Maybe it was their desire to eat free at Johnny Rocket's. Maybe it was their collective love of tight, white pants.
is a tiny, unexpected gem.
For my money, the best overall ad campaign for the Super Bowl was Garmin's last year. The initial ad above is great, but what makes the campaign stand out is all the additional web only stuff, including surprisingly funny interviews with the ad's heroes and villains and a music video from Steve "Grim Reaper" Grimmett(!)
Before MC Hammer's "Too Legit To Quit," there was a rap called "Legit" by Caldwell's Most Wanted - a little known group from a small town in Texas. Rather than emulating Hammer's mainstream, soft rap approach, CMW took inspiration from West Coast artists like N.W.A and Ice-T. Comprised of six high school students, the group longed to emulate the hard, thug lifestyle of South Central glamourized on Yo! MTV Raps despite their rural backgrounds.
Silverman came clean last night, honoring boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel's 5th anniversary on late night with a music video.
Music video of Rock Bottom Riser by (Smog).
The 2 Girls 1 Cup Song.
We didn't think there would be any Tonight in Rock column today, but we were wrong. Vault 350 in Long Beach is hosting a night of hip hop and rap starting at 8:30 p.m. Twenty bucks at the door.
In 1987, U2 did a little guerrilla music video shoot on top of the Republic Liquor Store at 7th and Main in Downtown Los Angeles. Only announced hours before the shoot on the radio, thousands and thousands of fans poured into what many considered a bad part of town prompting the LAPD to have a little freak out and try shut down the show before anything happened. Luckily, in the name of rock n'...
Who isn't a Halo fan-boy at this point *cough* me, 'cause I heart my trusty Wii, but maybe I could still get down with some Halo-the-movie live action phun. Description: Fans of Halo eagerly await the feature film version of the hugely popular Xbox game from Microsoft and its subsidiary Bungie. Neill Blonkamp will make his directorial debut from a script by Alex Garland (The Beach). Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will serve as...

It's cold and rainy and dreary outside. LAist had the best intentions to get some R&R this weekend, but it's LA! There were too many amazing things going on and so after our weekend of an art walk, live music show, farmer's market, yoga, a friend's birthday party, a magazine party and a play opening, we woke up this morning to the grey-ness outside and just wanted to curl back under the covers and...
As it gets closer to Halloween for LAist, a contributer recollects her tale of staring down the serial killer, Richard Ramirez, otherwise known as the Night Stalker. Must think happy thoughts -- okay, free organic chocolate chip cookies for Los Angeles -- now that's a happy thought. Other happy Los Angeles thoughts include an interview with Jack Kehler of The Big Lebowski (he was the Dude's landlord), a beautiful and magical photographic moment in Venice and the press making the speaker of the California State Assembly, Fabian Núñez, run away when being asked hard questions about sketchy luxurious and worldly expenses.
If you live in Los Angeles, you may have felt a rumble from rap group Brother Reade. Wait, let me take that back. You can compare them to a 4.6 earthquake. Making heads bop and girls shake their asses, Brother Reade has steadily taken over the eastside, and and soon the world, with their ingenious lyrics “This is for the strippers and the fans of the Clippers / cuz life ain’t easy for y’all” and infectious beats.
Hurry up and relax -- the weekend is within reach. Echoplex is set to prep you for a hot weekend at Sunset Junction with a solid lineup tonight including local dahlinks Midnight Movies and Irving as well as Detroit's Gore Gore Girls and Architects from Kansas City. You'll sweat, you'll scream, you'll cry... but you won't spend a cent to get in the door. Carry on for music video offerings....
A teacher friend of mine recently mentioned she was preparing an 80s theme party for the graduating seniors of her school. I asked, "Why 80s?" She replied that the seniors were born in 1989 and thus, they were the very last high school class to be born in that decade. I just about spit my drink all over her. I'm aware that we all age, but it still surprises the bejeezus out of me...
Few directors are more well suited to 4:20 Video Time than British auteur Chris Cunningham. His work with both Squarepusher (here), Bjork and Aphex Twin have set a high bar for weirdness and imagination in the area of music video.
Her music has been called haunting and timeless, and the new Bat For Lashes single "What's A Girl To Do," certainly falls under those descriptions. If Dario Argento directed music videos, this dark, ethereal promo for "What's A Girl To Do" could be it....

Well, that was fast. Omovies.com got this Paris Hilton music video spoof out in record time. I just couldn't wait for 4:20, knowing how long it's been since everyone's last fix (Paris TV: All Paris! All the Time!)...
