Wondering where Moving Units have been since the release of 2007's Hexes for Exes? Rather busy, it appears, between touring and brainstorming new material in preparation for a forthcoming EP. You'll be happy to know the boys haven't missed a beat in the past few years, their new songs reminiscent of the much beloved and highly danceable Dangerous Dreams, albiet a bit edgier.
Moving Units @ the Troubadour 10/29/10
Tonight In Rock: The Sounds, Jay Reatard, The Heavy, Flying Lotus
Tonight Swedish rockers the Sounds will be headlining the Wiltern with none other than local dance-infused rock outfit Moving Units (LAist Review) in tow. Memphis-bred garage punk troubadour Jay Reatard is poised to take on the El Rey Theatre (Canceled!). And, lastly, English indie rock act the Heavy (LAist Interview) will be gracing the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Airliner in Lincoln Heights to catch Flying Lotus, who will be performing in honor of Low End Theory's 3 year anniversary.
Tonight In Rock: The Mars Volta, The Faint, As Tall As Lions, Kissing Cousins
Tonight Grammy Award-winning El Paso-bred progressive rockers the Mars Volta (LAist Review) will be headlining the Hollywood Palladium. Omaha-based electronic act the Faint are poised to take on Club Nokia with none other than local dance-infused rockers Moving Units (LAist Review). And, lastly, Silver Lake's own all-female quintet Kissing Cousins will be ringing in their debut disc Pillar of Salt, which was produced by Californian-bred multi-instrumentalist Richard Swift, at everyone's favorite local record shop Origami Vinyl. But we strongly suggest heading over to the El Rey Theatre to catch LAist favorites, NY-based alternative rock outfit As Tall As Lions (LAist Review). Seal Beach-based quartet RX Bandits (LAist Review) and Los Gatos-bred prog rockers Dredg are slated to perform as well.
Tonight in Rock: Shiny Toy Guns, The Vandals, Supernova
The Venice Beach Drum Orchestra will play at the Spronto Gallery at 4 p.m.
