Small Fire Put Out at Los Feliz 3 Movie Theatre

A small fire that broke out this afternoon at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre was knocked down within ten minutes, according to e-mail reports issued by the Los Angeles Fire Department. Smoke was visible from the fire, however 30 firefighters were able to get the blaze out quickly. The Art Deco theatre at 1822 N. Vermont [map] first opened in 1934, when it seated 780; it was converted to a triplex in the 1990s. No information regarding cause or damage has been released. more ›

ArcLight Pasadena Will Open May 7

With initial speculation pointing to a launch sometime this summer, ArcLight's Pasadena location appears to be heading for a May 7th opening date, according to the ArcLight site. Closed for the renovation since April 1, the Pacific Paseo Theater in the Paseo Colorado is being converted to provide ArcLight patrons with their signature experience of movie-going on 14 screens. The grand opening will be Friday May 7th to welcome ArcLight to the Paseo with a 12:01 a.m. showing of Iron Man 2, and movie-lovers to their third all-reserved location in the LA area. Man Who Stabbed Movie-Goer With Meat Thermometer Arrested

Los Angeles County Sheriff's arrested 39-year-old Landry Boullard of Lancaster yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder, according to MyFoxLA. While at a showing of Shutter Island recently in a Lancaster movie theatre, Boullard allegedly stabbed a female movie-goer in the neck with a meat thermometer when she vocally objected to another theatre patron talking on her cellphone during the film. The cellphone talker left the theatre with two men, one of whom allegedly Boullard--who came back to the theater and attacked the victim. more ›

ArcLight Officially Announces Pasadena Location

Back in December, LAist speculated that ArcLight would be opening a Pasadena location. Officials back then would not confirm it, but today they are. "The conversion of the Pacific Paseo Theater in the Paseo Colorado center will give our many Pasadena area members the ArcLight experience right at their doorstep," the company said in a statement. "As with our current locations, at ArcLight Pasadena you will be able to enjoy the unparalleled sight and sound of our auditoriums, choose from the same wide variety of films and reserve your seats online with no additional fee. ArcLight Pasadena will also feature our innovative programming including Q&A’s with filmmakers, exhibits from films and 21+ screenings." The plan is to have it open by Summer. more ›
