Mountain High Snowboarder Who Crashed and Died is ID'd

The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's office has released information about the identity of the snowboarder who crashed and died at Mountain High Dec. 27th, according to the Press-Enterprise. The deceased is Mihail Smetanin, a citizen of Moldova who had been living in Fullerton and was a beginning snowboarder. "He was trying to keep up with some friends down an advanced run called Headwall [...] when he lost control and slid into trees." The coroner reported earlier that Smetanian had not been wearing a helmet. more ›

According to authorities, a 24-year-old Fullerton man died while snowboarding at Mountain High ski resort in Wrightwood, CA on Monday. The accident was reported at 6:06 p.m., says the San Bernardino Coroner’s Office. The victim collided with trees and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
