Last December, I embarked on a mission to find a solution to a problem in my immediate neighborhood. Trying to cross Moorpark St. on foot (or left turns in a car) during rush hour is a nightmare. There is just too much constant flow and you really have to have a brave moment to cross at the unmarked crosswalk because as we all know, there is about .001% of drivers in the city who......

"This historical landmark will be subdivided" a sign said in 1945 during the postwar building boom in the San Fernando Valley. Thank god for PTA mothers, who saw this sign and saved it by raising money according to the Daily News. The '94 earthquake destroyed Los Encinos State Historic Park's centerpiece, the De La Ossa Adobe, originally built in 1849. Tomorrow, after 13-years of rehab and discovery, it reopens with a celebration of bands,......

In Mrs. Warren's Profession, George Bernard Shaw wrote "If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance." Among those were Loose Change, Dateline in Long Beach, Path to 9/11 or Football. While we watched Castaic burn, we felt the need to be a little more green and looked into Griffith Park planning, e-waste, coastal cleaning and Eastside reservoirs. Speaking of e-waste, one of our writers got his computer stolen......

Tucked back in a corner at Whitsett and Moorpark is a small restaurant with a few tables and a diner bar with swivel seats. The fluorescent lights and cafeteria-style tables with attached benches say nothing about the food served here. For 21 years, Leonor's has stood here serving vegetarian and Mexican food. From faux chicken empanadas and Bolivian sandwiches to soy cheese pizzas and burgers. No complimentary chips and salsa are given, but there......

Throughout this series, we will be asking fellow bloggers about their thoughts on Moorpark Street. LACityNerd summarizes a good list for us to start off with: When I think of Moorpark Street, I think of... -The most visible & concentrated destruction after the 1994 earthquake - especially looking up and down the streets as one rides along it Fulton and Van Nuys Blvd. -A short cut/alternate to Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake during rush......
