The first rule of Monday Night Fight Klub: Leave the dancing to the stars and the singing to wannabe idols. The MTV2 show is auditioning rap stars to be on the show’s second season.

Sometimes Monday nights lead to tough choices. For Jax at Rock Insider, it's between The Pity Party (who we interviewed this morning) and The Henry Clay People. Luckily, both bands are playing all month. Still, there are many choices. If you like your music Folk, your drinks cheap and have never been to Joe's Great American Bar & Grill in Burbank, it's a pretty sweet place to catch music seven days a week -- tonight is Dafni.
Have you had enough of $5 coffee? $99 burgers? $125 martinis? I know I am -- doesn't anybody in this city want to find the cheapest drinks, meals, and booze? Los Angeles Magazine comes through this month with a feature on great deals and bargain finds on everything from martinis to furniture to underpants. We went straight for the food section, of course -- and here are our top food bargain picks from the February issue. What are your picks for best foodie bargains in the city?
Despite it being Superbowl Sunday, February residencies got off to a great start last night with Alex & Sam at Tangier. Tonight is the first night of February residencies at Spaceland, Silverlake Lounge, Crash Mansion and The Echo/Echoplex. By last Thursday, The Airborne Toxic Event had gained so much popularity from their January residency, they had to reject 300 people from the door. Case in point, catch these bands in residency early on in the month.
Rainy days and Mondays may get you down, so check out these events tonight to make the first night of the workweek no so ho-hum.

That opening game of the NFL was a kick in the nuts, wasn’t it? The Indianapolis Colts proved their defense wasn’t a mere fluke in last season’s playoff by only allowing the New Orleans Saints offense to only score a field goal in their 41-10 blowout. At least I was right about the Saints having a pretty porous defense. With the exception of the Reggie Wayne fumble that was taken for a touchdown, no...
For all of us who have been huge WWE fans or were forced to sit through a pay-per-view because our friends were rabid about it, it's a sad day. Chris Benoit, the Rabid Wolverine, and his wife and son were found dead in his home in Atlanta this afternoon. No details have been disclosed, but the police are treating this as a homicide. When I was a real wrestling nut earlier this decade, I...

LAist traveled the country for 40 days and 40 nights and one of the best nights we had was at Monday Night Football in Arizona the other day. Yes it was a spectacular game, but the fans were totally excellent and they let us take pictures and now that we're back home we are sharing them with you, our brothers and sisters. The question is though, if LA gets a NFL team again, would...
LAist is on the road in search of the perfect football game. If you saw last night's Monday Night Football spectacular you might agree that we were in the right place at the right time to meet our goal. We were also in the parking lot of the University of Phoenix Stadium to remind our fellow Angelenos what the NFL is all about. It's about showing up early, tailgating, painting your face, talking trash,...
LAist is driving around the country to find the fountain of youth. Currently we're in Arizona to see the Monday Night Football game between the Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. We're here because LA doesn't have a pro football team for some reason. Yesterday we went to that huge crack in the country called The Grand Canyon. We'd been here before and to tell you the truth, we were less than impressed. Huge crack....
Monday Night Football brought some love to New Orleans the day after yesterday as the city re-opened the Super Dome. It was an emotional evening that was kicked off by some pretty amazing musical performances including a medley by U2 and Green Day which really got interesting after the 4-minute mark, so bear with Green Day......
It still feels like summer, but it's time to say adieu as it officially ended last week. There is no better way to say goodbye than spend it on the beach sipping some rum mixed with fruit in Malibu. Blended pineapple juice, coconut syrup, strawberries and light rum. You've probalby had it in Hawaii. It's called a Lava Flow. You can get it at Duke's Malibu, which is also a good place for beach...
LA Observed lets us know that the times they are a-changing. will no longer provide the TV Times to Sunday subscribers unless they call and ask for it. The rise of TiVo and DIRECTV, whose listings are actually on the TV (where they belong) is the probable cause for the change. LAO points us to Todd Everett who breaks it down. Franklin Ave. is also on the scene.
Unless otherwise noted, all of the following shows are free of charge.

ESPN or no ESPN, Monday Night Football is dead. ESPN may have two revenue streams, allowing it to pay $1.1 billion, but it's going to seem no different from a Thursday night or any other weeknight football game.
