LA County Sheriff Lee Baca says the remains of Mitrice Richardson, the CSU Fullerton student who was missing for nearly a year after being detained at the Lost Hills/Malibu LASD Station, "will be exhumed and sent to the FBI laboratory in Quantico, Va., for further examination," reports LA Now. Richardson's mother requested the FBI's involvement last month, and has upheld her claim the LASD did not properly handle the case or the body. Authorities may be closer than ever to finding Mitrice's Richardson, the 25-year-old woman missing since the day she was released from custody close to a year ago. Richardson's father, Michael, said he was told there's been around 80 possible sightings of her in Las Vegas, according to the LA Times. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departemnt would't confirm that number, but spokesperson Steve Whitmore told the LA Times that "they wouldn't be doing this if they didn't believe they had credible information of her whereabouts. Major Effort to Find Missing Mitrice Richardson this Weekend

After months of media coverage about the lack of interest by police in the missing status of Mitrice Richardson, a major search by the LAPD and Sheriff's Department is scheduled for this weekend, reports the Malibu Surfside News, via LAObserved. Richardson, "who was preparing to begin substitute teaching and doctoral work in clinical psychology," went missing in the early hours of September 17th after an incident that led to her arrest in Malibu the night before. Based on the way she acted that day, her booking photo and writings later found in her car, family and experts said she may have been suffering from a mental breakdown or sorts. more ›
