Five men, three of whom are members of the East Coast Crips gang, were arrested on charges of taking minors from the Inland Empire to North Hollywood to work as prostitutes. The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports that Darrius Sutton, 21, Chad Phillips-Miller, 23, Darius Burks, and Leprinceton Burks, 27, and Edwin Franklin were taken into custody on December 8, after an investigation by the Los Angeles Innocence Lost Task Force.

Supreme Court Rules CA Violent Video Game Sale Ban Unconstitutional
A ruling today by the Supreme Court may be felt as a loss for California Governor Jerry Brown, but a boon for youngsters with a love of video games and some cash in pocket. A 7-2 ruling made today "determined that California’s 2005 violent video game restrictions violated free speech rights protected by the First Amendment," according to the Sacramento Bee.

You may or may not be aware of a new state law that went into effect on January 1, 2008. We were reminded of this a couple days ago, driving west on Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills.

It is often laughable how the term "liberal" applies to the California legislature not as a derivative of liberty, but more literally, as the over-zealous tendency to invent superfluous laws of little societal or governmental relevance.
