LA Clippers defeat Golden State Warriors 118-105. With Zach Randolph and Marcus Camby back in the line up, the Clippers finally got some size back into their team. And the size did help them win against the fast paced Warriors. There was also a Baron Davis sighting who nearly had a triple-double with 25 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. LA Angels defeat Toronto Blue Jays 3-1. Angel's start John Lackey pitched a masterful game against the Chicago White Sox in his season debut on the 14th but didn't get the win. So Lackey came out Tuesday night and pitched just as well giving up one run on seven hits in seven innings while the bullpen pulled through to give him his first win. Things got interesting in the ninth inning when Angel's closer Francisco Rodriguez walked three to load the bases and went 3-0 on Alex Rios. Rodriguez got Rios to strike out on the next three pitches to end the game. Angel's shortstop Erick Aybar left the game in the first inning after dislocating his pinky while fielding Alex Rios' grounder. A trip to the DL might be in the future for him. more ›

So what has been going on in Dodger land since I last posted? Well a big hearty congrats go to Russell Martin for winning the Silver Slugger Award for National League catchers. Voted by coaches and managers, Martin led the NL catchers in hits, homers, runs, stolen bases, batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. Only Mike Piazza (from 1993-1998) was the other Dodger catcher to win the award since its inception in 1980.... more ›

On Tuesday it was announced that Dodger catcher Russell Martin is joining a fraternity of National League catchers that include Johnny Roseboro, Johnny Bench, Benito Santiago, Tony Pena and even Mike Lieberthal. Russell Martin is now a gold glove winner. Since 1957, Rawlings have been giving out the gold glove award for best fielding performance at each position. Hindsight is 20/20, but it's pretty obvious today that the Mike Piazza trade was the worst move in Dodgers history. The Dodgers refused to sign the greatest hitting catcher ever in the prime of his career to what was effectively a market-level contract in a great economy. In return, the Dodgers got a worthless season from Bobby Bonilla, a worthless season and everlasting hatred from Charles Johnson, absolutely nothing out of Jim Eisenreich, Manuel Bairros' undistinguished minor league career, and of course, three years of headaches from Gary Sheffield. more ›

This Dodgers team has been absolutely incredible. Despite a pitching rotation which has been in tatters in all season long, the Dodgers have managed a whopping 53 come-from-behind wins, and 16 when trailing after 8 innings. Talk about clutch. more ›
