A coroner’s investigator said Saturday that Michele Yu, the 49-year-old Venice woman who disappeared hiking last weekend, fell to her death while climbing Mt. Baldy, L.A. County's highest mountain. On Thursday a helicopter crew recovered Yu's body from "a steep, ice-covered slope more than 2,100 feet below the summit of Mount Baldy" reports CBS Local.

Earlier today a team of medics and a coroner from Los Angeles County hoisted the body believed to be that of missing hiker Michelle Yu from the Fish Fork area of Mount Baldy, according to LA Now. Although the woman's body's description and clothing match that of Yu, 49, an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow to make a positive identification and to determine cause of death.

Michelle Yu, a 49-year-old experienced hiker, disappeared Sunday near Mt. Baldy in the Angeles National Forest as a winter storm hit the region. Yu had food and water for a one-day hike and was not dressed for the rain, wind and snow that hit the mountain Sunday night, reports KTLA.
