Tonight legendary Boston-bred alternative rock outfit the Pixies will be taking on a three-night stint at the Hollywood Palladium with local noise-infused rockers No Age (LAist Review, #2) in tow. Equally legendary Akron-based new wave act Devo are poised to conclude a two-night stint at the Henry Fonda Music Box. And, lastly, English electronic act Broadcast will be headlining the Troubadour with none other than Deerhunter front man Bradford James Cox's solo endeavor Atlas Sound. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Bootleg Theater to catch one of LAist's favorite local singer-songwriters Mia Doi Todd.

Tonight In Rock: The Prodigy, Sun Kil Moon, The Thermals, Jens Lekman

Tonight '90s British electropunk outfit the Prodigy will be making their triumphant return to the Hollywood Palladium with SF/LA-based electronic collaboration the Glitch Mob. Portland-based indie rockers the Thermals are poised to headine the Troubadour with the Shaky Hands in tow. Local alternative rock outfit War Tapes will be ringing in their forthcoming debut at Boardner's. And, lastly, Swedish indie pop guru Jens Lekman will be taking on a two-night stint at the Echo. LAist's favorite chanteuse Mia Doi Todd is slated to kick things off.

Led Zeppelin multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones is slated to join on the mandolin.

Tonight LA will be commandeered by female singer-songwriters. New Orleans-based "one-woman band" Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview) is slated to headline the Hotel Café. And Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter Sara Lov will be continuing her Tuesday Night Residency at Spaceland. In other non-female-fronted news, LA-based indie rockers Pop Noir will be kicking things into gear at the Echoplex. The Flaming Lips At War with the Mystics (Warner Bros.) – As much as we loved The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots we're glad they're trying some new things on this one. While it's not as stylistically consistent as their other albums, there are enough quality songs to recommend it. Catch them live at the Hollywood Bowl on 7/23.

LAist isn't even really sure why we felt compelled to write about Valentine's Day events, considering that it really isn't much of a holiday at all, unless one revels in the unabashed glut of candy and flowers—in which case, we say live it up.

• At Largo, Sarah Silverman will be performing her own special, heartwarming brand of standup with Louis CK. Doors open at 8 PM.

At Arena 1 in the Santa Monica Airport, tonight is the artist's reception for the exhibit Santa Monica Originals, featuring the work of artists with either a historical or contemporary connection to Santa Monica. Among the artists featured are John Baldessari, Frank Gehry, Sam Francis, Lee Mullican, Lucita Hortado, Larry Albright, William Tunberg, Charles Gains, Astrid Preston and Lita Albuquerque. The UCLA Hammer Museum presents a Hammer Lecture with Alan Koch and Linda Taalman, founders of Taalman Koch Architecture, at 7:00 PM. LAist has seen them speak before and can vouch that this will be an interesting evening.

Aside from the Vice Presidential debates, there are some events going on around town. If you decide to go out rather than remain home, glued to the TV as Cheney and Edwards duke it out, you can always catch the highlights on the radio while on your way to one of these fine events.
