Street artist Mr. Brainwash likes to go big, and since he calls L.A. home, this is where he is set to launch what is being called "his largest and most ambitious Los Angeles exhibition to date." With an as-yet unspecified "late October" opening, Mr. Brainwash (aka Thierry Guetta) will include his work, and the work of invited and select global artists in "Art Show 2011."

Mr. Brainwash Does Banksy In Hollywood, Caution Is Stolen, New Pieces From LA To San Diego?
Caution Fun! should be renamed Caution Thieves! because where there once was this there is now is a giant missing piece of wall. Banksy fever appears to be spreading too -- reports of suspected outbreaks are being reported in DtLA, Santa Ana and Oceanside. Also, Mr. Brainwash also made a Banksy-inspired appearance today at the Vogue Theatre in Hollywood to ham it up with a few new works.
Mr. Brainwash Says Banksy Movie 'Gift Shop' is "100% Real"
In an interview with the LA Times, Thierry Guetta, aka street artist Mr. Brainwash, addresses all the rumors that the Oscar-nominated documentary "Exit Through the Gift Shop" (aka "The Banksy Movie") is fakery: "This movie is 100% real."
Mr. Brainwash...or Banksy Storming the Oscars on La Brea?
With Exit Through the Gift Shop (aka the Banksy movie) getting a Best Documentary Oscar nomination in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, in the wee hours one morning a few days later this large piece of street art showed up on La Brea at San Vicente, in the oft-used Mr. Brainwash space. There is, indeed, a Mr Brainwash signature next to the giant hoodie-shrouded Oscar statuette (at the end of a sidewalk red carpet, no less) and some showbiz-y busied Storm Troopers hanging around--err...hovering around from above, too.
Local Street Artist Lands Madonna Album Cover
Mr. Brainwash, aka MBW, is no stranger to Madonna (remember his Optical illusion mural of Britney and Madonna kissing?). Now one of his ubiquitous street poster works of the pop singer has been chosen as the album cover art for her "Celebration" album, due out on September 29th.
MBW Gets into Lakers Spirit with New Mural
Mr. Brainwash is at it again at his usual spot on La Brea at San Vicente. This time celebrating along with the rest of Los Angeles.
"It might be an understatement to say Mr Brainwash polarizes opinion," wrote the unnamed blogger at unurth, a street art blog. "While some people love his work, and he sells prints and originals at blazing speed, others criticize him for lacking originality and being overly commercial. I like a lot of his work, but to me this piece doesn’t make it any easier to defend him."
MBW Goes Jackson Pollock on La Brea
The wall on La Brea near San Vicente is french film documentarian-turned-street artist Mr. Brainwash's rotating art gallery. Last night, Jackson Pollock and his drip technique spilled onto the sidewalk.
MBW Paints Mural of Obama, King & Parks on La Brea
Overnight, french documentary filmmaker turned street artist Mr. Brainwash, or MBW, took his wall and redid it for inauguration day. On the side it states:
Rosa Parks sat,
so Martin Luther King Jr. could walk.
Martin Luther King Jr. walked,
so that Barack Obama could run.
Barack Obama ran,
so we could fly.
Mr. Brainwash Brings Einstein Street Art to La Brea
In case you were wondering what was up with Einstein's love protest over on La Brea near San Vincente, it's Mr. Brainwash's usual spot for his art. In the past, we've seen Star Trek, Madonna/Britney Spears, Marion Cotillard and the Mona Lisa doing some mooning.
Blonde Ambition
Remember that one time Madonna and Britney Spears made out in front of millions of people, and more importantly Brit's ex Justin Timberlake. Before the new Tila Tequila MTV where girl-on-girl kissing is encouraged, preferably in front of parents.
You Rock My Life Marion
That's Marion Cotillard, this year's best actress winner at the Academy Awards. Pictured is a mural depicting a moment from her very sweet Oscar speech. Sadly my name isn't Olivier, I am at the moment providing 0.00% of rock to Marion's world. She's referring to Olivier Dahan, her director in the Edith Piaf biopic "La Vie en Rose." A punk if you ask me.
Hollywood Stars Hang Out At Liquor Stores...Just Like Us!
Next time your uncle and aunt are in town skip the usual Hollywood Boulevard shenanigans. The Walk of Fame and Mann's Chinese Theater are just as exciting as they look on Google Images. Instead take them to Pincher's Liquor and crush their spirits with these unusual murals.
