Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa brought his appetite to the table...will you? dineLA runs October 4-9 and October 11-16, and has a list of many, many (over 200!) wonderful local eateries at which you can treat yourself to specially priced three-course menus.

Yesterday the Mayor's office announced the appointment of Raymond Chan as the interim General Manager of the City's Department of Building and Safety, following the resignation of its previous holder, Andrew Adelman. Adelman had been out of the position on paid leave in August, after allegations arose that "he raped an unconscious woman after a pub crawl organized by city employees in July," according to the LA Weekly.
The 2009 Latino Heritage Month Celebration got off to a rousing start yesterday at City Hall as the annual event began with a ceremony that included food, music, dancing, and the presentation of awards to local legends.
