Chivas USA takes its first road trip of the year to face an old nemesis, the Houston Dynamo, arguably the team's biggest rival outside of the Galaxy. Matches between the two are always tense and hard fought, the result of a string of incidents between them over the years, beginning with the Dynamo having ousted Chivas USA from the playoffs on multiple occasions.

It almost did not happen, but a last minute deal for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between MLS and its Players Union averted an expected strike, clearing the way for yesterday's season opener in Seattle. Now it is L.A.'s turn.
Galaxy Embarrassed, Chivas USA Fights for Playoffs
One word describes last night's performance by the Galaxy at the Home Depot Center: embarrassing.
While it was a breakout game for Galaxy defender A.J. DeLaGarza, scoring two first half goals, there was little else for the Galaxy faithful to cheer about after a 6 - 3 thrashing courtesy of FC Dallas. L.A. was on its heels from the start, unable to contain the speed of Marvin Sanchez and Jeff Cunningham. The latter nearly opened the scoring at the 2nd minute but luck intervened and Cunningham missed. No matter, Dallas would open the scoring at the 7th minute on a deflected free kick.
