The genre of "foodie movies" demands that the Los Angelean viewer have an after-movie plan. If you're seeing Tampopo, make haste for Daikokuya. If it's Soul Food, M&M Soul Food better be no farther than 20 minutes away. And now with Julie & Julia... well really, is there any place in Los Angeles where you can find the exquisite French food featured in the movie? Oh sure, there's Kendall's Brasserie or Church & State. But the best thing about Julie & Julia is that you're gonna wanna cook. Maybe not like Julia Child, but you'll be inspired to break out the pots and pans, and maybe even the pen and paper.
Movie Review: Julie & Julia

TV Junkie: The Retiring Bob Barker Is All Over CBS Tonight; Comedy Hottie Sarah Silverman on Kimmel (literally too, unfortunately)
A Word or 52: TV icon Bob Barker is retiring and is getting a big sendoff from CBS. Lost will be killing us by not giving us any additional info about Locke. Idol will knock another one off. There are no decent movies on TCM or IFC to go take refuge from regular broadcast TV tonight. Tonight - Wednesday - May 9, 2007 Angels @ Mariners (Fox Sports, 7:00 p.m.) Cardinals @ Dodgers (PRIME,...
Tonight in Comedy in LA - Best Night Ever
Who doesn't love Best Week Ever? Tonight two of our favorite BWE peeps and several other comedians will be doing a new show called "True Hollywood Stories" at the Hollywood Improv. You got Doug Benson and Greg Fitzsimmons from VH-1’s “Best Week Ever”, Andy Kindler from “Everybody Loves Raymond”, Jen Kirkman from “Acceptable TV”, Nate Craig from Blerds.com, and we're being told "possibly" Mary Lynn Rajskub from "24". Only in LA would someone from...
Get Your Funny On: Chloe + College Improv
Before she got famous as Chloe on 24, Mary Lynn Rajskub (pronounced rice-cub) was known as a quirky-funny character actress and all-around comedian. She's getting back to her roots with her new show The Complications of Purchasing a Poodle Pillow, which she performs every Sunday evening for the rest of the month at the Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood. WHEN: Sundays at 8:00 p.m. through April WHERE: Steve Allen Theater at the Center For Inquiry...

I'm Tivo-ing Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe from 24) on Conan tonight because it's the only new TV worth watching. Did you know Mary Lynn used to be David Cross' girlfriend? Did you know she's starring in a full-length comedy show at the Steve Allen Theater? Go see her Sunday, Apr. 15 @ 8:00pm, it's like $5 or $10 or something, pocket change.

TV Junkie: Gates Drops Mad Beats on 'The Daily Show'; Mr. Sulu Beams Onto 'Heroes'; Meet Jack's Dad On '24'
A Word or 51: I thought I was watching my TiVoed Golden Globes broadcast last night but it turned out to be the Screen Actors Guild Awards with the same winners almost across the board. If the Oscars follow suit can't we just get rid of this circle jerk and have one stinkin' awards show? Tonight - Monday - January 29, 2007 UCLA @ Stanford (PRIME, 5:00 p.m.) College basketball Carnival Marathon featuring The...
