Tonight In Rock: The XX, Spoon, Isis, Local Natives

Tonight British indie rock outfit the XX will be performing to a sold-out crowd at the Henry Fonda Music Box with none other than NY's latest buzz band, electro-infused rock duo Phantogram (LAist Review). Austin-based indie rock mainstays Spoon (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) are poised to take part in the 2010 KROQ Weenie Roast, which boasts a bevy of heavy hitters, at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. And, lastly, Boston-bred heavy rock progenitors Isis (LAist Interview) will, unfortunately, be calling it quits after some thirteen consecutive years with their head to the grindstone. Their final West Coast show, which is completely sold-out, takes place tonight at the Troubadour in West Hollyweird. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Bootleg Theater to catch Silver Lake's own indie rock sensation Local Natives (LAist Interview, Review, #2). Pasadena-based Americana act Old Californio are poised to perform for free at the Echo late in the afternoon for this week's edition of Grand Ole Echo. And, lastly, local indie rock act Voxhaul Broadcast will be taking on the aforementioned venue even later for this week's edition of Part Time Punks. And, lastly, LA-based indie rockers Sweaters will be headlining the Echo. And all three free Monday Night Residencies, which have simply dominated Silver Lake and Echo Park for the past month, will be coming to a conclusion. New Year's Eve was a raucous, booze-filled celebration at Spaceland (MySpace) in Silver Lake, with triple headliners The Happy Hollows (MySpace), The Pity Party (MySpace), and The Henry Clay People (MySpace) -- all of whom have been previously mentioned here -- kicking off 2009 with a show that will undoubtedly wind up on many "Best Of" lists at the end of this year. more ›
