Week In Rock: Andrew Bird, Flying Lotus, The Like, Jeremy Messersmith
This week Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird (LAist Review) will be gracing Largo at the Coronet not once, but twice. Local electronic mastermind Flying Lotus is poised to take on a two-night record release stint at the Echoplex with San Diego-bred DJ the Gaslamp Killer, Las Vegas-by-way-of-San Diego rapper/singer/DJ Gonjasufi and Ras G in celebration of his latest tour-de-force—2010's Cosmogramma; It should also be noted that the first night will incorporate a very special, newfangled live band. LA-bred all-female, retro 60s pop rock quartet the Like, who recently recorded their forthcoming debut with none other than Mark Ronson and Phantom Planet front man Alex Greenwald, will be kicking off their month-long, free residency at the Echo. And, lastly, Minneapolis-bred chamber-pop singer-songwriter Jeremy Messersmith will not only be performing at the Hotel Café, but he will also be performing at the Bootleg Theater.
Jason Bentley’s Top Ten Albums of 2007
Right around Labor Day we interviewed KCRW dj Jason Bentley about the 30th anniversary of Morning Becomes Eclectic. Today he provides us with his top ten albums of 2007, and you Radiohead fans will be glad to see that he adds them to his list just like most of his cohorts did. Interestingly when Mathieu Schreyner left Radiohead off his list, not only was he not criticized, but he received many more positive comments...

TV Junkie: Tuesday Picks
This week seems to be the week that new sitcoms will be unleashed upon us. Tonight we have the bizarre historical moment in which commercial characters have now secured themselves an actual network television series. We're of course talking about Cavemen. While GEICO may have created a successful commercial campaign, one would think that the idea of a series could have been tested online much more economically. Everyone is predicting a flameout and that the...

And if we learned one thing about David Lee Roth it's that he aint no morning man, which is fine. What he is is the only front man that Van Halen should have ever had, and we're glad that all the nonsense was able...
