Train from Vegas to California to Break Ground This Year

Curbed LA, via the Las Vegas Sun, is reporting that the DesertXpress train planned between Las Vegas and Victorville will begin construction this year. This route, if extended from Victorville, would ideally connect with California's High Speed Rail project in Palmdale. Another project also in the works would bring a high speed MagLev train from Vegas to Anaheim. more ›

Money Funneled to Roads Instead of Vegas to Anaheim Train

The dream of developing a MagLev train between Las Vegas and Anaheim took a hit this week when Nevada transportation officials designated $45 million to an airport road connector instead. "[It] will have the biggest immediate impact for job creation and relief from traffic congestion,” said Senator Harry Reid in a statement printed in the Las Vegas Sun, via Curbed LA. About that High Speed Train to Las Vegas

With all the talk of Prop 1a passing--partially funding the High Speed Rail between Southern and Northern California--there is little talk about the high speed train being planned by a collection of smaller outlying cities in Los Angeles County that they say will serve "shorter-distance intra-regional commuter [between Palmdale and Irvine], airport access and other non-work trips within Los Angeles and Orange Counties." more ›
