TV Junkie: Kardashian's Walk All Over 'Mad Men'; 'V' Back & 'Sons of Anarchy' Special

Tonight brings the return of "V" and we'll be on it this time since the episodes don't appear on Hulu until Saturday. "Sons of Anarchy" will have be a 1.5 hour special and series guest star Adam Arkin will be on "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson". At the end of our post check out the in-production "Pacific" promo from HBO featuring the commentary of Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.

TV Junkie: Finale Summary; Showtime Winter Series Dates

As we know, last night had the excellent season finale of "Bored to Death" which we gave you a sneak peek of but it also had the finale of the multi-Emmy winning "Mad Men" on AMC. "Mad Men" generally had a great season with only a couple sleepy episodes but the finale was incredible. Maybe Don is finally free of Betty but the plight of the kids had our female viewing party members crying with most feeling that Don was much better off without "that crazy Betty". What will keep us pining for the next season is the momentum that was built up with what was ostensibly the launch of a start-up '60s-style. Summer of 2010 can't come too soon.

What Would Don Draper Tweet?: Ad Man Integrates Social Media Into Coursework

If “Mad Men” has taught us anything, it’s that advertising is all about the client and the product. But a “Mad Man” for the technology age urges ad firms to put the Don Draper era behind them and consider the consumer in a new manner: through the lens and the interactive venue of today’s social media tools.

TV Junkie: TV Ain't Goin' Away (Yet); FX vs FOX; 'White Collar' Premiere

Weekend Edition The prediction that TV was fading into the fog of yesteryear as a medium seems to not be true (for the moment). Overall viewership of TV is up by 4% and the departure of the coveted 18-49 demographic seems to have been arrested. The Hollywood Reporter offers a breakdown, network by network.

TV Junkie: 'Balloon Boy' to Become Mini-Series? 'Monty Python' Doc Premieres Sunday on IFC

Weekend Edition The world watches an empty balloon that could be part of a stunt to get a reality show, hmmm, that makes us think that this particularly family could easily head down the "Jon & Kate Plus 8" route - and whoops, TLC is now suing Jon Gosselin. Unless there is some kind of massive intervention, nothing will end well for anyone in that family.

TV Junkie: Weekend Wrap Up; Studios/Networks Milk Social Media

What we effed up: Not Tivoing "Mad Men" so we're watching it later tonight. Not that you can spoil it for us since it will probably involve Don jumping in the sack with yet another woman, some new account or other work crisis, and Betty doing something risque. We're not saying that the show is predictable or boring because these are major plot points for almost any show and what makes "Mad Men" special is the style and delivery. Cheers.

One thing most people don't see is what happens in the Press Room at the Emmys. After the winners leave the stage, they have the choice to do interviews with the likes of ET's Mary Hart and other outlets. They also have the choice to go into the press room to answer questions from the 300-or-so members of the press assembled there.

TV Junkie: Sunday It's Emmy Time

Emmy Weekend This week/weekend it's all about the Emmys and Sunday night at 8pm is where it's at. This puts the broadcast in conflict with a new episode of the Emmy-nominated "Mad Men" as well as the premieres of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Bored to Death" - thank goodness for repeat broadcasts and HBO-On-Demand. LAist's TV Junkie will be at the show, on the red carpet and in the press room so stay tuned to LAist for up-to-the minute posts on Sunday.

TV Junkie: More 'Mad Men'; Scorsese on HBO

George Carlin might (finally) get an Emmy if Academy voters give him props for "George Carlin: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize." C'mon, give an old man a break!

TV Junkie: The Kids in the Hall are Back! In Canada....

Weekend Edition "The Kids in the Hall" have reunited to shoot an 8-part comedy-mystery for Canadian television. The series will air on the CBC network in January 2010 but no word on if/how/when the series will air on US TV. --- The TV Junkie will be going on hiatus next week to rest his weary eyeballs. We'll post a "must-see" list for the week along with some other recommendations. Thank you so much for reading! We'll be back by the 30th.

TV Junkie: 'Mad Men' Record; Oswalt to SyFy; DeLay to Dance

Lord Help Us: Former Republican Majority Leader and alleged criminal Tom DeLay will be a contestant on the next "Dancing With the Stars" along with Donny Osmond, Mya, Macy Gray and Aaron Carter; actors Melissa Joan Hart, Debi Mazar; professional snowboarder Louie Vito; Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin; former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin, and many others.

TV Junkie: 'Mad Men' Season Premiere on Sunday, no duh

Weekend Edition What we can't ignore, even if we wanted to, is this Sunday's season premiere of "Mad Men" on AMC at 10pm. The "Mad Men" hype machine has been in overdrive for over a month with Banana Republic promotions, avatar generators, Esquire pictorials, Wall Street Journal profiles, Jon Hamm et al appearances on Conan/Fallon/etc. and tonight cast members of "Mad Men" will make a (doubtless hilarious and self-deprecating) appearance on E!'s "The Soup" at 10pm. We're going to be watching the premiere on Sunday - watch for the trending topic on Twitter fo sho. We also thank Jah there is no programming conflict between "True Blood" and "Mad Men".

Senator Barack Obama's Wednesday night appearance on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" scored the show's biggest audience ever. Let's see what tonight's appearance by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin does for ABC's "20/20" as well as tomorrow night's Senator John McCain cameo effect on NBC's "Saturday Night Live".

After watching tonight's finale of Mad Men, we don't know how we will make it until next season. Jon Hamm hosted Saturday Night Live last night. Maybe SNL's Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women will help us get through the long wait or even get lucky.

It's a Jon Hamm/"Mad Men" weekend: on Saturday, the man who plays Don Draper will be hosting "Saturday Night Live" and Sunday brings us the season finale of the mult-Emmy-winning show from AMC. Both are a must watch.

If you're not heading home to hit the bottle hard after this week, more power to you. I'm not sure what solace TV will provide this weekend, what with "The Starter Wife", that, despite all the heavy hype, looks less than funny.

The incredible Louis CK debuts his one hour special "Chewed Up" on Showtime Saturday night at 11pm. Yes, last weekend we told you to check out Chris Rock's special and this one is even better. Louis CK writes a lot of Rock's material, and has written for Letterman, Conan, "SNL", and created his own (critically acclaimed but short-lived) show on HBO "Lucky Louie".

If McCain shows up for tonight's debate, make sure you have some friends over, plenty of beer, and make a drinking game out of the evening via these guidelines from Howcast. Chances are you will be plowed by 8pm.

Evanglelical totem, Sarah Palin, drew over 37 million viewers on Wednesday night, according to a report in the New York Times. This number is just shy of Obama’s record-setting 38.4 million viewers from last week's acceptance speech, dwarfed Joseph Biden's 13 million, and probably eclipsed John S. McCain's as well. Superstar or freakshow?

This weekend concludes NBC's broadcast of the XXIX Summer Olympics which has had some very enjoyable moments, not necessarily enjoyable because of NBC, but it's not like we had a lot of choice. Who knows what moments we missed in the countless events that were not broadcast, who knows what sports would have piqued the interest of Americans, if only they had exposure to them.

OK, just a couple more days to go of overexposure to Michael Phelps. Yes, he's amazing but do we need profiles of him every single night? Interesting how these profiles gloss over his 2004 DUI conviction. We know what he eats, we know how his dog snores, but we don't hear about his DUI, or his broken wrist, and other setbacks he's had over the last few years - facts which only make his story a bit more interesting but don't get the exposure as decided by NBC bigwigs.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past year, you should know that the Olympics start this weekend. Tonight the enormous super-choreographed extravaganza known as the Opening Ceremonies will take hours of your life away from you. Over the next couple weeks, TV Junkie will show what's on Prime Time as well as any events that should be highlighted depending upon how the games go.

Shark Week winds down - I'm almost all sharked out anyways, plus the TV Junkie will be heading for a week's vacation at the beach so he was getting a little freaked out.

This weekend presents a dilemma. The big deal this weekend is the season premiere of "Mad Men" on Sunday at 10:00pm but this puts it in conflict with HBO's excellent "Generation Kill" which runs until 10:30pm but it repeats again at Midnight so that's probably the way out of this mess.

The Screen Actors Guild has officially rejected the June 30th offer from the studios. Cited among the reasons for the rejection was the fact that the major studios and networks have invested large amounts of money and/or have inked deals to distribute their content online or via video-on-demand but the contract offered actors does not account for this increased distribution. Considering that the contract would be for four years, to be locked out of that revenue was considered unreasonable.

PaleyFest08 announced today that they’re hosting an X-Files retrospective with series creator Chris Carter and executive producer Frank Spotnitz on March 26. But if that doesn’t bust out your inner Mulder or Scully, then how’s this? Attendees will also get a sneak peek at The X-Files sequel planned for a summer release.

At this point my whole week is focused on getting to AMC's Breaking Bad which debuts this upcoming Sunday. AMC scored a couple Golden Globes with Mad Men, let's see if they can repeat the success. On face value Breaking Bad is more interesting than anything the Big Four have planned for us.

"Atonement" leads the pack of nominees for the 2008 Golden Globe Awards with seven nods, including top actor nominations for both leads, Keira Knightly and James McAvoy. "American Gangster," "No Country for Old Men," and "Sweeney Todd" also garnered nominations; you can read a partial list of the nominees here at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association website. Hayden Panettiere, Dane Cook, Ryan Reynolds and Quentin Tarantino read the list at the Beverly Hilton at...

1. The Obvious- My parents and sister are the most important people in the world to me. They support me in every boneheaded endeavor I partake in, and believe me, there are tons. It's astonishing how many, actually. 2. My friends. Once again, totally obvious. Once again, they're totally awesome. Much love to Porter House, SLC, Shalhevet, AU, and everyone who fits into all, some, or none of those categories. World rockers, each and every...
