This past Saturday at Siren Studios in Hollywood was The Blue Ball, a celebration of Perez Hilton's 33rd Birthday -- which featured every attendee decked out in blue. One highlight of the very fun event (other than the bouncey-bounce castle!) was Macy Gray's surprise performance.

Post Oscars: Jimmy Kimmel is Fucking Ben Affleck
Enough with the Oscar talk -- Kimmel's long-awaited response to "I'm Fuckin' Matt Damon" is here and it's chock-full of hilarity:
Tonight in Rock: Macy Gray, The Vacation, The Entrance Band
Tickets are still amazingly available for tonight's intimate Macy Gray show at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. For something a little more rock n' roll, Hell Ya! and Girl School are teaming up in their monthly residency at The Viper Room with The Vacation in the first night of their weekly February residency (for a guide to February residencies, check this out). Otherwise, there is truly something for everyone tonight -- we recommend some psychedelic rock with The Entrance Band, Thursday night residents at the Silverlake Lounge.

TV Junkie: Tenet on Charlie Rose; 'Earl' In Smellovision; New 'Office', 'Ugly' n' more
A Word or 52(approx): Gouge away if you wish, but Lost was excellent last night. I need some comic relief tonight so it's My Name Is Earl in Smellovision (go get your TV Guide now with the Smell Card) and the Office for me - I can't commit to more than that, I have a couple bottles of beer waiting for me. Tonight - Thursday - May 3, 2007 Angels @ Royals (FoxSports, 7:00...
Jimmy Kimmel to Broadcast from Big Blue Bus, Picking Up Guests as Show Rolls On
One of the nice things about having so many tv channels is there is so much selection. There once was a time when there was only one late-night talk show option: Johnny. Then there was Letterman and Leno. Now there's also Craig Ferguson, Conan of course, and Jimmy Kimmel. There's so much selection that there's even an audience for Carson Daly's terrible mess of a show. In order to keep up with the O'Brien's,...
Macy Gray Is Playing a Private Show, Wanna Go?
We'll admit it, our last contest for Macy Gray might have been too hard. We have a winner for that contest and now we have Nine more pairs of tickets to give away. Macy is going to be playing a private show Thursday night, March 8th, and we wouldn't be surprised if you got a heaping helping of some of her new CD, Big. And we want to send you there to check it...
Make LAist a Concert Poster, Win Tickets For Macy Gray Playing a Private Event at a Jazz Club
SXSW is right around the corner, in fact LAist will be there in less than a week. We are currently holding a contest to let a local band play at SXSW, and now we want to let someone local make our concert poster. Coincidentally, we also have 10 pairs of tickets to see the outrageously wonderful Macy Gray on Thursday, March 8th. But not just any old Macy Gray show (as if there was...
How Many Project Runway Contestants Can You Fit Into A Barkar?
Gen Art events will always pack the house. Sometimes overpack the house as LAist has been to other events of theirs where you couldn't tell if you were coming or going. Interestingly, the makeup of Gen Art is very different from city to city (we hear Chicago has the best mix of young professionals - as the LA version can at times just have too many wanna-bes).
The Independent Spirit Awards: too dirty for primetime
Yep, that's Felicity Huffman, and yes, she wins Best Actress at the Independent Spirit Awards. Think she's got a shot at the Oscar?
A Decade of Chocolate
Mayor Ray Nagin and his n'awlins constituents might not know this but LA has had it's own Chocolate City for the past 10 years. Garth Trinidad has been the wizard of sound for KCRW's Chocolate City program since 1996 and has been the key figure in launching important "urban alternative" acts for that time. It is safe to say that without Chocolate City, artists like Jill Scott and Goapele and labels like Ubiquity would have had a much harder time finding success in the the contemporary music market.
