Last week Angelenos by the hundreds went to the "Celebrate the Macallan" at Vibiana. These scotch drinkers jumped at the chance to sample some single malt and learn about the history, traditions, and origins of one of Scotland's finest.

                     

High-class imbibers were out in force for Whisky Live at the Santa Monica Civic Center last Monday. Whisky Live is an international tasting and sampling event, taking place "from London to Tokyo, Paris to Glasgow". Billed as “Southern California’s Finest Whisky Experience,” attendees had the opportunity to sample the wares of twenty-seven companies, some familiar (Glenlivet, Dewar's, Macallan), some (such as Japanese manufactureres Hibiki and Yamazaki) not even available on American shelves yet.

So it's time to pick a present for dad. If joke banks that fart when you deposit a coin aren't dad's thing, a classy present like some special single malt scotch might just do the trick. Dad will enjoy your present for months or at least weeks. You can pour a glass together and toast the summer night. If you were a challenge to raise, a nice bottle of scotch can pay dad back for his hard work and patience.

                                   

Last Thursday night "The Masters of Photography Collection" was unveiled at M + B Gallery in West Hollywood. The world-renowned, not to mention charming and hilarious photographer Rankin shot 1,000 unique Polaroids that will each grace 1,000 bottles of limited edition Macallan Fine Oak 30 Years Old. There are only 150 of these bottles in the United States. The primarily black and white photographs were shot on the Macallan estate over six days. The gorgeous blonde model is none other than Rankin's girlfriend.
