During the six years relocated Clevelanders Biblical Proof of UFOs haunted the dives of Los Angeles, they made my world a better place. This one band brought so many of my favorite things in the same package. 	Birdmonster \| Local Rock All The Holes In The Wall [download] Birdmonster pride themselves on pushing the envelope. This track is a perfect case in point. It's part country, part rock, but decidedly original. Catch Birdmonster for free on October 23 at Spaceland.
	Timonium \| Local Rock/Psychedelic Filamented [free download \| stream] This airy track ranges from etherial to murky. The lyrics are often obscured in the musical landscape, but it's ultimately a worthwhile trip. Hear Timonium live on October 25 at Spaceland.
	The New Fidelity \| Local Powerpop/Alternative Miss You Like You're Dead [free download \| stream] Catchy guitar rifts are juxtaposed with offbeat lyrics and vocals that are just edgy enough to give the song some punch. 	R&B \| Pharrell Download: Can I Have It Like That From: In My Mind. The relentless beat will pull you into this catchy single—the first from his forthcoming solo effort, due out November 15.

	Electronica \| Cut Copy Download: Future From: Bright Like Neon Love. Play this after a night on the town. Cut Copy pulls inspiration from 80s synth and 90s techno, but has a sophistication that warrants a return listen.
	Rock \| Franz Ferdinand Download: Do You Want To From: You Could Have it So Much Better. After a few listens, the answer to the title will be an emphatic "yes." Ferdinand's latest offering is, in a word, infectious. You'll either thank us or curse us for suggesting it.
	Alternative \| Fiona Apple Download: title track From: Extraordinary Machine. This track is quirky and uncharacteristically optimistic. It reveals that Apple can do more than brood. Extraordinary Machine also shows off her vocal chops, which are formidable indeed.
	80s/90s Retro \| INXS Download: Need You Tonight From: KICK. Blame it on CBS, blame it on nostalgia... but we still love old school INXS. While some people may be digging Pretty Vegas, we still think there's no replacement for Michael.

	Pop \| Amanda Ghost Download: Silver Lining from Ghost Stories. Ghost's surname is apropos. Her pipes are haunting, gritty and shorn. That edge combines perfectly with the vulnernable lyrics on this song.
	Folk \| Tracy Chapman Download: 3,000 Miles from Where You Live. Ever since Telling Stories, Chapman has taken a more subdued approach to her music. On 3,000 miles, she muses about the fragile world and her apparent distance from it.
	R&B \| Prince Download: S.S.T. from a Katrina benefit album. S.S.T. stands for Sade's Sweetest Taboo. We dig the Plant Life remix heard on KCRW's Chocolate City, but the original is equally as sweet. Proceeds benefit the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
