As mentioned previously, the 12th Annual Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival (aka "LobsterFest") was held last weekend at the Ports O'Call Village in San Pedro. For Kevin Bronson from Buzz Bands, the highlight of Sunday's musical lineup -- consisting of Devon Eisenbarger, Tijuana Panthers, Walking Sleep, Miss Derringer, The Section Quartet, and John Doe and Exene Cervenka of X -- was "...when [the headliners] -- in the middle of 'Give Me Flowers While I'm Living' -- were interrupted by the horn of a departing cruise ship. Last weekend, the 12th Annual Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival (aka "LobsterFest") was held at the Ports O'Call Village in San Pedro. As Losanjealous noted, this festival is the only one of the three held this month that has programmed their live musical entertainment beyond tribute bands, and this year's edition, curated by Mr. Shovel from the late-Indie 103.1, produced what was arguably one of its strongest yet most diverse lineups yet. more ›

The Fix Gallery hosts an opening reception tonight for Begin Again, a “mixed media event,” with author Elizabeth Rosner and emerging artists Ryan McCann, Denise Niziri, and Sage Gracie. The evening features an open viewing of the art, an 8:30 pm Q&A with the artists and Peter Mays of the Los Angeles Arts Association, and a special raffle of an original piece of work designed by the three artists collectively. Summerwood Winery of Paso Robles will pour complimentary tastings of their wines. 7-10 pm. more ›

Last weekend, the 10th Annual Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival took place in San Pedro. Last year's festival featured performances by notable local indie artists Eagle and Talon (MySpace), Great Northern (MySpace), and Bodies of Water (MySpace), and this year's lineup was no different with The Henry Clay People (MySpace), Craft Club (MySpace), Oliver Future (MySpace), Rocket (MySpace), Robert Francis (MySpace), The Weather Underground (MySpace), and The Monolators (MySpace) filling out the majority of the three-day roster. more ›
