Tonight In Rock: John Fogerty, Amazing Baby, LA Ladies Choir, Citay

Tonight Berkeley-bred rock singer-songwriter John Fogerty, best known for his time with Creedence Clearwater Revival, will be taking on a three-night stint at the Hollywood Bowl. The Echo & Echoplex will be hosting a benefit for booker extraordinaire Jennifer Tefft, which features She Wants Revenge, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (Canceled!), Great Northern, Dead Meadow, LA Ladies Choir, Rocco Deluca, Nico Stai, Useless Keys and Living Things. And, lastly, San Franciscan psych rockers Citay are poised to grace the Silver Lake Lounge. But we strongly suggest heading over to the UCLA Hammer Museum to catch the first night of the summer concert series 'Also I Like To Rock.' LAist favorites Amazing Baby are slated to rock, as well as Band of Skulls.

The lady in question wore her cape with a grace that even Dracula would have envied. Among the other die hard Eagles of Death Metal fans included several men who greased their hair like the lead singer, Jesse Hughes. As the crowd began to trickle in, it became abundantly apparent that the fans had come dressed to kill. Leather jackets with chains, black jeans, and leather boots were in abundance. And why not? The bands that they had come to see had made their mark not just with their music, but by embodying what it was to be a rock star.

Unwilling to take what was happening under the Bush administration, the Living Things wrote songs that grabbed politics by the throat. The band is made up of three brothers, Lillian Berlin, Eve Berlin, Bosh Berlin, and their friend Cory Becker. Shortly after their success The Living Things picked up and moved to Los Angeles.

Is anybody driving three hours to the desert for this? Two day passes ($167 + $23 in fees) and Saturday tickets ($86 + $15 in fees) are still available. Most of the rock bands have played LA clubs in the past few months. Otherwise you better really like DJs and house music……

Politics, guitars and intelligent lyrics fuel the the St. Louis band of brothers known as Living Things. On their new CD "Ahead of The Lions," Lillian, Eve and Bosh Berlin pull on a myriad of inspirations, from the Ramones to Aerosmith.
