Lifeguards in Newport Beach are warning beach goers not to dig big holes in the sand after a child was almost buried alive, according to the Daily Pilot. On-duty guards encountered a young boy pulling his friend out of a 10 ft x 2 ft sand tunnel that was built at a 25-degree downward angle. The tunnel collapsed around the child during the rescue effort but guards were able to yank him from the sand in time. more ›
