Nestled between Turntable Lab and some kosher groceries stores on Fairfax, The Golden State serves delicious burgers, Let's Be Frank hot dogs, and Scoops Ice Cream all under one roof. The beer list features a small but mighty selection of local brews and a few from around the world.

Last night, NPR's Hidden Kitchens mavens, the Kitchen Sisters, brought in a full house at the California Endowment for a talk exploring the way a desire to better our lives can bring people together and inspire tremendous change, as part of an evening called "Who Glues Your Community Together through Food?"

Here at LAist we loved to sample the culinary offerings of Los Angeles. Sometimes high end restaurants and other times scrumptious street food. Let's Be Frank serves the best hot dogs in LA. The Frank Dog or Spicy Brat Dog come on a grilled fresh baked bun from Acme Bread. These organic grass-fed beauties are perfect. Most days you'll find, owner Sue Moore standing behind the grill. She offers organic grilled onions, sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, and sometimes amazing spicy home-made pickles. A Let's Be Frank dog = happiness.
