I realize I say this with regularity, but it is especially true in this case: IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN/HEARD LES SAVY FAV PLEASE DO SO AT ONCE. I've always been a fan of theirs, but hadn't caught them live until last night when they blew into the Echoplex courtesy of Aquarium Drunkard, and proceeded to do a whole number of shenanigans, half of which I can't really mention. Suffice it say I sincerely hope Tim Harrington's man parts made it through the night.

Tonight In Rock: Bonnie Prince Billy, Les Savy Fav, Alexisonfire, Olin & The Moon
Tonight Louisville-based folk troubadour Will Oldham, a.k.a. Bonnie "Prince" Billy, will be closing out a two-night stint at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Mon Mon. Ontario-bred, Juno-nominated post-hardcore quintet Alexisonfire are poised to take on the Troubadour with none other than Sacramento's own Trash Talk. And, lastly, local alt-rockers Olin & the Moon (LAist Interview) will be performing at the Roxy in Hollyweird. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echoplex to catch New York-based rock and roll outfit Les Savy Fav. LAist favorites, Long Beach-based indie rockers We Barbarians are slated to kick things off.

2008 Coachella Music Festival - Day One
Finally, after all the hubub and debate of the quality of this year's Coachella lineup, the festival got underway Friday afternoon. Featuring Jack Johnson at the top of the bill, the day featured outstanding performances from the Raconteurs who proved that they aren't just Jack White's side project but rather a band that is developing their own sound and identity. The Verve, playing for the first time in nearly a decade sounded like they hadn't even missed a step. The day also featured standout performances from indie darlings Vampire Weekend as well as Tegan and Sara among others.
The Happy Hollows' Top Ten of 2007
I've always been intrigued by other "best of" lists, but this year I decided to take it to a whole new level. I e-mailed a handful of bands that I've seen this past year in order to unearth what exactly captivated them in '07. As music listeners, it is our duty to take a keen interest in our favorite musician's influences. After all, they rocked our little world, might as well see what rocked their little world. Therefore, this is an act of paying it forward to those hardworking, underpaid musicians who truly made a difference within the music scene this year.

Extra, Extra: Les Savy Fav Wants You to Rock Your Pants Off
About the above picture: The Rawking Refuses To Stop!, a blog of all things Los Angeles pop culture and MP3, shares with us their best concert photos of 2007. Above, they sneak out of LA to New York to see Les Savy Fav at the Bowery Ballroom (we'll just say they did the same thing when they came here). Don't forget -- you still have today and tomorrow to enter our Rufus Wainwright/Belinda Carlisle...
