Aside from pseudo-news trash there's no new programming on tonight and even late night is all repeats. On this last night of a 3-day weekend, I'd make some nice drinks and hunker down to watch TCM's lineup. 5:00pm La Jetee TCM - This short film by Chris Marker is the inspiration for Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys but without all that Bruce Willis starpowercrap. Excellent montage of beautiful B&W photographs is totally compelling. 5:30pm Point......

A Word or 4 dozen : Somehow I totally missed posting that the Shield was on last night and again it was good. I think one would be hard-pressed to find more raw and compelling performances on any other show available on the networks or basic cable. Being a former SF resident, I haven't been able to get enough of Conan's broadcast from the Orpheum theater on Market Street- too bad that's still bum-junkie......

A Word or 14: Supposedly the Daily Show and Stephen Colbert have the week off - how dare they?! I may have to resort to watching PBS, or, godhelpus, the local news. Today - Monday - February 19th, 2007 The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (TCM, 5:00 p.m.) John Ford's '62 classic with James Stewart, John Wayne, Lee Marvin, Edmond O'Brien, Lee Van Cleef, John Carradine and practically everyone else who was alive at......

In between an Angie Dickinson double feature last night, the woman herself made an appearance and answered questions from a hoarde of enthusiastic male fans. At 75, the woman still has it; heck, she doesn't look a day over 50. (she may have had work done, but it's exceptionally good work). The one-time Police Woman was charming and forthcoming. The 1971 film Pretty Maids All In A Row, directed by Roger Vadim, was, she......

If you hate the winter holidays, now would be a good time to head for a cave. Weekends are filling up with Southland holiday rites and rituals. Pasadena's annual Doo Dah Parade is Sunday, November 21 at 11:30 AM. The parade takes place in the Old Pasadena district. It begins at Raymond and Holly Streets, goes south on Raymond to Colorado Boulevard, west on Colorado Blvd. to Pasadena Avenue. The event started out as......
