And, lastly, Brooklyn-based afrobeat act Antibalas will be gracing the Echoplex. But we strongly suggest heading over to Redwood Bar & Grill in Downtown to catch one of Silver Lake's most gifted singer-songwriters, Michael Orendy, who of course performs under the pseudonym Frankel (LAist Interview).

For the uninitiated, La Roux are the current (and richly deserving) darlings of England's resurgent synth-pop scene. After emerging last Fall as though they sprang fully formed from the head of drum machine Zeus, the London-based duo (singer/keyboardist Elly Jackson and keyboardist co-writer Ben Langmaid) has gone from "who?", to "Holyfuckingshit" in less time than it took the Bush Administration to hoax the Democratic caucus into accepting their transparently idiotic WMD claims. Their first single, "Quicksand", recorded before they even had a proper record deal, debuted in December and quickly became an international iPod staple. In short order, they subsequently:

Pennsylvanian mash-up king Girl Talk (LAist Review, #2) is poised to headline the Pomona Fox Theater with LAist favorites Brother Reade (LAist Interview, Review) and Walter Meego (LAist Review) in tow. And, lastly, Brooklyn-based electronic act the Golden Filter will be gracing the Avalon in Hollywood. This week Anaheim-based ska-infused pop outfit No Doubt will be headlining the Gibson Amphitheatre with Grammy-nominated pop punk outfit Paramore and Swedish new wave rockers the Sounds in tow. Athens-based avant-gardists Of Montreal will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl with none other than LA-based Cambodian rock outfit Dengue Fever. English alternative rockers Elbow are poised to take on the Wiltern with local indie rockers Mellowdrone and Manchester-by-way-of-LA singer-songwriter Jesca Hoop (LAist Interview, Reviews). And, lastly, London-based electro-pop duo La Roux will be performing to a sold-out crowd at the Troubadour.
Tonight: Vetiver, Silversun Pickups, La Roux, Mike Stinson
Tonight San Franciscan folk rockers Vetiver will be taking on a two-night stint at the Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock with none other than Oregon-based singer-songwriter Richard Swift. London-based electro-pop duo La Roux are slated to headline the Roxy with LAist favorite, local instrumental duo El Ten Eleven. And, lastly, around mid-day LA-based country troubadour Mike Stinson will be gracing Redwood Bar & Grill. But we strongly suggest trekking all the way out to the Glass House to catch local buzz band Silversun Pickups, who are poised to release their forthcoming sophomore effort Swoon this coming Tuesday.
