Teen With Shotgun, Ammo Arrested After Threatening Teacher at Former School

A 17-year-old Riverside County high school student was arrested Wednesday morning after threatening a teacher at his former school armed with a shotgun, knives and ammunition. The teen appeared at Lakeside High School in Lake Elsinore around 7:30 a.m. in the classroom of a former teacher who was able to alert another teacher. The teen, whose name hasn't been released because he is a minor, was quickly detained by police and booked into juvenile hall without incident, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. more ›

Lightning Sparks Brush Fires in Riverside County, Homes Burn

Two homes have reportedly burned after lightning sparked a brush fire in a Lake Elisnore neighborhood this afternoon. Evacuations were called for and one sheriff's deputy was injured when he rescued an elderly woman from a house. In other parts of Riverside County, a handful of small and large fires burned, some near the cities of Temecula and Sage. "We've got small fires and larger fires," a Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman told the LA Times. "We're trying to catch up. It's been hectic." more ›

3 Arrested in Bomb Making, Marijuana Plant Operation in Lake Elsinore

A 55-year-old mother and her two sons are in trouble after a series of events that led police to find a home used for child care was also used for nefarious activities. On Wednesday evening, after 23-year-old Benjamin Kuzelka's hand was injured by a bomb, he went to the hospital saying it was a gunshot wound, according to the LA Times. Doctors said the injury was inconsistent with a gun shot and notified police, who in turn responded to Kuzelka's home, finding bomb making materials and marijuana plants. Both the mother, Rebbeca Kuzelka and brother, 21-year-old Grey Kuzelka were arrested. more ›

A two acre brush fire has sparked up off Ortega Highway near Lake Elsinore, a city in Riverside County, according to KCAL9 on-air news. The highway runs through the Cleavland National Forest where the fire is most likely located.
