A Lake Arrowhead boy died this weekend of injuries he sustained when a large concrete bird bath fell on him while he played in a South San Gabriel back yard. Six-year-old Hunter Thomas Mason Brule was playing in the yard with a dog Saturday evening when the bird bath crashed over onto his chest.

Last Dirt Road In State Highway System Closes
Deemed too dangerous by Caltrans, Route 173, the last unpaved road in the state highway system, was closed on Monday in Lake Arrowhead due to maintenance and safety concerns. In the past 10 years, at least one person has died "falling down the steep, unguarded mountainside," reports The Sun, and to maintain the narrow road Caltrans has spent between $20,000 and $40,000 annually.
Power Outage Update: Close to 22,000 Without Service
Some 3,400 LADWP customers scattered throughout the city are currently without service, about half of the number earlier this afternoon. However, the number of Southern California Edison customers across the region without service has increased by around 8,000. The hardest hit areas include Lake Arrowhead (3,142), Orange (1,805), Huntington Beach (1,571), Baldwin Park (1,253), Altadena (1,125) and Compton (870). "SCE is continuing to prioritize repairs so that customers who have been without power the longest will have service restored first," the utility said in a statement.
