A school bus driver for the Saddleback Valley Unified School District has been removed from behind the wheel and placed behind bars on suspicion of molesting three children. Shane Norman Crawford, a 37-year-old Laguna Hills man, was arrested Wednesday night at his home for three alleged counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.

At a City Council meeting last night, officials in Laguna Hills voted to ban registered sex offenders from the area's parks, reports NBC Los Angeles. The ban will apply to the city's 15 parks, and possibly to private parks as well.

Sheriff's deputies received a call from passers-by yesterday morning who reported that someone in a dry riverbed in Laguna Hills was screaming, according to the Orange County Register. They arrived to find the head and arms of a man — who so far remains nameless — sticking out of a hollowed-out tree.
Nursing Home Resident Fatally Beats Roomie With Metal Pole
A 94-year-old resident of the Palm Terrace Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Laguna Hills has died after being struck in the head by his roommate, 81-year-old William McDougall, with a metal pole, according to the OC Register. The two had never been involved in any incidents prior to last night's violent encounter, a Sheriff's Department spokesperson noted. The pole may have been one used in the room's closet and was used to fatally beat the victim in the head. McDougall has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The motive for the violent confrontation is currently unknown.
Brush Fire in Irvine Caused by Illegal Fireworks
A 75-acre brush fire in Irvine Regional Park was 100% contained this morning wit firefighters expecting full control later this evening. The Orange County Fire Authority was alerted to the blaze at 3:16 p.m. on the Fourth of July, prompting about 160 firefighters on the ground to respond in addition to helicopters, bulldozers and a fixed wing aircraft. No injuries or structure damage was reported. The cause was listed as illegal fireworks.
Corvette Owner Killed While Taking Possible Buyer on Test Drive
During a test drive with a prospective buyer, a woman in her 20s crashed her Corvette into a tree and died, according to the OC Register. The victim was driving her 2003 gray Corvette in Laguna Hills at around 8:15 this morning when she lost control following a turn onto Mill Creek Drive, when the vehicle "skidded sideways, its driver's side door slamming into a tree. The car then apparently spun around before banging into another tree 20 feet onward." The impact left the windshield shattered and the driver's door hanging on a hinge, in addition to front-end and roof damage. The passenger, a 28-year-old man, "was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo to be treated" for injuries described as "not life-threatening."
Orange County Mother Gives Birth to 14-Pound Baby
Richard Walker Sault was quite the surprise. Born two days before Christmas in Laguna Hills, he was larger than expected. Much larger. 14 pounds, 2 ounces, which is double the size of average newborns. He was delivered by caesarean section by the hands of two doctors (one was not enough for this big boy) and the family is reported to be in good health.
