We brought our family, checked out the farm animals and attractions and oh my freaking god, did we eat a lot of deep fried food and cheese fries. The month-long LA County Fair ends on Sunday with Saturday hosting the LG World Championships of Freestyle Motocross and a Filter concert (but they do cost extra). Here are a few more photos from the fair starting with this crazy 28-pound rabbit.

After all the salt consumed by eating tons of deep fried foods like avocado and Oreos and a huge brick of cheese fries leaves one desiring sugar. The easy answer is Dr. Bob's in the farming area of the fair. When National Geographic released their 10 Best of Everything guide for travelers, Dr. Bob's Handcrafted Ice Creams came out at number two on the list.
If yesterday's photo gallery of all the deep fried food to be found at the LA County Fair was not enough for you, then check this $8 brick of cheese fries out. Tip: the easiest way to eat it is to pick it up like a sandwich go nom nom nom...
"If it's slower, smaller and stupider than I am..." batter it up and throw it in the fryer!
The LA County Fair is now in its second week, and LAist again returned to snap some photos of the fun. Some of these photos were taken just as the fair was opening, before the hordes of people and the long lines. The "FairView Farms" area is always a highlight, and this visit included mischievous goats, the Budweiser Clydesdales and various animals giving birth.

It's that time of year again--time to pack everyone in the car, gas it up, and trek out to the Fairplex in Pomona to get your LA County Fair on. You may have been seeing those ads that play on current events for this year's 18-days of fun and counting the days, or maybe you've never been. Either way, it's a fun outing, and, if you go today, admission is only $1 until 5 p.m. The fair boats hundreds of attractions, rides, booths, and shows, ranging from exotic animals to home improvement, prize-winning crafts and baked goods on display, horse racing, parades, concerts, and competitions galore.
It seems that the ditzy blonde LA County Fair commercials are going wayside this year in lieu of playing off current events (oh wait, nevermind). Above, these ads for the September 5th through 28th event are expected to hit streets on billboards and bus shelters this week.
The LA County Board of Supervisors and the City Council are set to vote today on a "Lights Out Los Angeles" proposal, which would encourage all city employees to "voluntarily turn off all non-essential lights between 8 and 9 p.m. on Oct. 20, replace at least one incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb and pledge their participation on www.lightsoffla.org." Mirthala Salinas didn't show up to work today at her new gig...

I love the fair. Absolutely love it. Why you ask? Well, it could be the awesome carnival rides. Or it could be the adorable animals. Or it could even be taking those "Olde Tyme" photographs with my friends (oh, you know that you love to dress up in Saloon outfits and pose with a shotgun!). But honestly, there is only one thing that revs me up for the fair. One thing that gets me dreaming...
Bands, Food, Carnival, Rides, Animals, Shopping, an Indoor Snow Park, Monster Trucks, Freestyle Motocross, and a Demolition Derby. Everything you would expect at a County Fair. The Carnival has the usual assortment of rides, games, and carnies. There are air conditioned shopping areas with over 2,000 vendors, a 4H style animal area with petting zoo, cows, and some bulls with 4' horns. When you get hungry you can get some over priced bottles of water...
After 16 years of living in LA, we finally checked out the LA County Fair!
Hard to believe that the son of a Nazi police chief has a hard time apologizing for being culturally insensitive, but, you know, That's Our Gov'n'ah! Last week it was revealed that the Governator had been caught on tape stereotyping African-Americans, Cubans, and Puerto Ricans in March when he was corrected about the heritage of assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia, who he originally called Cuban. He was corrected, and told that she was Puerto Rican. Either...
LAist loves those LA County Fair commercials with the tagline: "If there's any place that could use a county fair, it's LA." Ain't that the truth. Where else can you see the wonders of nature -- like deep fried Snickers -- first-hand?
