LAist Interview: The BSE
Everyone loves a mystery. But Mondays turn into Fridays turn back into Mondays and it’s not long before you arrive at the sobering realization that the last time a good, old-fashioned whodunit inundated your methodical lifestyle was during a chance encounter with the collected works of Agatha Christie. Imagine your surprise, then, when going about your normal A.M. routine – coffee, toast, LAist (ahem), MySpace status update (mood: exanimate!) – you happen upon a peculiar friend request from someone called “The BSE.” Nary an identifier save a graphic of a fighter jet in flames, you click over to find a well-designed, visually appealing web page with a red, “Who is the BSE?” button in the upper right corner daring you to solve the riddle.
Tonight in Rock: What Made Milwaukee Famous
As usual on Mondays, it's a big residency night in Los Angeles. Lots of free shows or, at least cheap ones, to pick from. Outside the residency radar, Buddyhead is throwing a belated Christmas party tonight at La Cita. Santa Casper will be there for you to sit on his lap and tell him if you've been naughty or nice and drink specials are $2 Tecate, $3 Domestic beer, $4 Import Beer and claims of cheap Jager shots.
A Sad, Slow Dance Party at La Cita
Sometimes one is in the mood for a gathering of people with great music, but instead of being happy and energetically dancing around, there is Give Up's "A Sad, Slow Dance Party" presented by dublab and Part Time Punks tonight at La Cita. Taking cue from the successfully subdued Give Up shows where DJs played gloomy music and devotees painted tears on their faces, this next installation takes on the lonely theme in time for Valentine's Day. What's interesting is the depressing music actually has the opposite effect and makes for a joyful time.
Call Me Deacon Booze: LAist Happy Hour
On This Day...
I am thankful for… Thanksgiving - even though I think it’s a stupid holiday, and I pretty much hate all the food associated with it - for giving me the opportunity to spend the day with family that I love and actually enjoy being around. I am thankful every day that I am able to make a living being creative and doing something I love. (Except for when I’m on strike) I am thankful...
