Do you have a favorite restaurant in L.A. that has suddenly taken a turn for the worst or seen an eatery with great potential but no know-how? Well, it's Gordon Ramsay to the rescue. You might recognize his name from that restaurant at the London but he's actually a celebrity chef in several food-related reality shows. And his show on Fox, Kitchen Nightmares, is currently on the hunt for down-and-out restaurants in Los Angeles (as well as Boston, Philadelphia, the Tri-State area and all of Florida) to transform into Michelin-worthy dining destinations. NY Times, the paper of record, says that Tivo has struck a deal with DirecTV so that subscribers will be able to record programs in HD on a new recorder made by Tivo. Other than the coolness factor, what should be noted is that Tivo will now be the recorder of choice for DirectTV, Comcast, and Cox - and people were saying Tivo was gonna disappear.

LAist reader Prabhat Gautam is an all around vegan and lives a no-car/all-transit lifestyle. He writes us a note after visiting Sante Cuisine, which was Sante La Brea before Chef Gordan Ramsay tooled around with it for an episode of Kitchen Nightmares which will air next Fall:

Eating L.A. caught a Craigslist post touting that Sante La Brea did up a new menu, compliments of Chef Gordon Ramsay. In a phone conversation with the health conscious restaurant, who LAist visited last May to try vegan pizza, they said an episode of Kitchen Nightmares will feature them around next October.

Again we're pumelled in the eight o'clock slot which will be ruled by Survivor tonight. If you can't get enough CBS though, you now have many many options now available at Veoh which is hosting Airwolf, Hawaii Five-O, MacGyver, and The Twilight Zone among dozens of other shows.

Today's Wall Street Journal reports that '24' co-creator Joel Surnow is bailing from the show and the Fox network. Surnow is the "right-wing nutjob" who is a personal friend of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and President Bush - he's the one that had the brilliant idea to come up with a right wing "answer" to 'The Daily Show' for Fox, but the failure to produce one is evidence he never understood the question.

The Lost premiere is the biggest TV event of this very young year, hands down.

Got a bit more of a schedule tonight: the Winter X Games are starting up, and there's a bunch of stuff at 8:00pm. I was sick on Sunday so I'm looking forward to catching the rebroadcast of Breaking Bad on AMC.

Holy jeebus my eyeballs are gonna fall out. There's about a 1/2 dozen series premieres and a 1/2 dozen season premieres tonight.
