Gregory Powell, one of the two men responsible for the 1963 "Onion Field" kidnap and murder of Los Angeles Police Department Officer Ian Campbell has cancer, and is serving a life sentence. However, District Attorney Steve Cooley announced late today that the California Board of Parole Hearings has denied Powell a compassionate release from prison.

A North Hollywood man is suspected of kidnapping his mom from her Oregon home, reports KCBS. Marshall McMains Goldberg, 55, is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 160 to 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Woman Found Guilty of Killing 2-Year-Old Daughter
Quartz Hill resident Stacey Barker, 26, has been convicted in the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Emma Leigh Barker, reports the Daily News. The girl's body was found in March of 2009 near a highway in Sylmar. Barker originally told police that she had been knocked out and while she was unconscious, her daughter was kidnapped. The story prompted a 12-hour manhunt in the area for the kidnapper and the child.
