Tonight In Rock: The Roots, Keane, The Avett Brothers, Mika Miko

Tonight Philadelphia-based Grammy Award-winning hip hop band the Roots will be taking part in the predominantly electronic, fledgling music festival Audiotistic, which takes place at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino. Sussex-based pop rockers Keane are poised to headline the Hollywood Palladium. NY's own faux French indie rockers Nous Non Plus (LAist Interview) will be gracing Spaceland. And, lastly, local noise/punk outfit Mika Miko (LAist Review) will be ringing in their debut album at the Smell with none other than the Soft Pack. Although we recommend attending the aforementioned show, we strongly suggest heading over to the Henry Fonda Music Box to catch North Carolina's crown jewel: bluegrass-infused folk rockers the Avett Brothers. Chicago-based lo-fi/alt-country outfit Magnolia Electric Co. are slated to kick things off.

Coachella 2009: Rumored And Confirmed

It is the start of a new year and that means we're slouching towards Southern California's biggest music festivals, starting with Coachella in the middle of April. And, as usual, the internet is simply ablaze with line-up rumors. But this year, much like last, crazed fans have taken things a step further on the festival's message board, going as far as to contact bands directly for confirmation.

Tonight English pop rock sensation Keane will be stopping through the Largo at the Coronet. Topanga Canyon folk rockers the Weepies are slated to headline the Hotel Café. And, lastly, St. Albans' own electro pop outfit Friendly Fires will be rocking out at Spaceland. But we suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch Little Joy. Fab Moretti of the Strokes? Immaculately crafted pop rock gems? Count us in.

Tonight English pop rock sensation Keane (LAist Review) will be stopping through the Roxy. Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Bryan Adams (LAist Review) is headlining the Wiltern. Local producer/musician extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Review) is performing one set only at the Largo at the Coronet, of course. LA-based hard rock outfit the Bronx are slated to perform at the Echo with LBC's Crystal Antlers (LAist Review). LAist favorites the Submarines (LAist Interview) will headline the Echoplex. And, lastly, the hilarious dudes in Trainwreck—featuring Kyle Gass of Tenacious D (LAist Interview)—will be rocking out on the tiny stage at El Cid. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch local singer-songwriter Robert Francis (LAist Interview), who will be doling out folk-infused ditties all night long.

Congratulations to our Keane winner Stephanie. She will be seeing Keane tonight at the Gibson, not the Greek, the Gibson. After the fire a few concerts had to be moved from the Greek to the Gibson, so if you have tickets to the show tonight head to Universal Studios, not the smoldering hills of Los Feliz. We're also being told not to miss Anjani @ Hotel Cafe tonight where she will be being presented...

One's a middle aged crooner, the other are young bucks from across the pond. They're both playing concerts this month here in LA and we've got tickets for both of em. Keane is a trio from Sussex and Connick is a Sinatra-fan from Louisiana who married a Victoria Secrets model. Although they're great piano-based artists, neither seem all that street-tough, which is why we ask Who Would Win in a Fight: Keane or Harry...
