Tonight In Rock: Sloan, Kaki King, Dum Dum Girls, Saint Motel

Tonight Toronto-based alternative rockers Sloan, who were present at last night's Hot Hot Heat show, will be headlining the House of Blues Sunset. Hottlanta-based rocker Kaki King is poised to head a Gulf Coast Benefit at the Mint with none other than Ben Lee, Carina Round, and Rachael Cantu. Tonight In Rock: The National, Kaki King, Patrick Watson, The Living Sisters

Tonight Brooklyn-by-way-of-Cincinnati indie rock act the National will be concluding a two-night stint at the Wiltern. Québécois singer-songwriter Patrick Watson is poised to headline the Hotel Café with none other than OC-based folk outfit Yellow Red Sparks in tow. Southern rock maestro Shooter Jennings & Hierophant will be performing at the Troubadour. And, lastly, the first ever Silver Lake Jubilee, a two-day community festival which features a bevy of twenty-some-odd local bands each day, will be taking place on Myra Avenue at Santa Monica Boulevard and North Hoover Avenue. But we strongly suggest heading over to the El Rey Theatre to catch Hottlanta-based rocker Kaki King. LAist favorites, Australian indie pop duo An Horse are slated to kick things off. more ›

Ian MacKaye, of Minor Threat and Fugazi fame, will be doing a Q&A session at Hollywood High. And, lastly, LA-based singer-songwriter Rachael Cantu will be playing the final night of her month-long residency at Tangier. But we recommend heading over to the Echo to rock out with Baltimore-by-way-of-Australia the Death Set. The electro-punk duo will surely raise hell. more ›

Austinist Outs Over 100 More SXSW Bands

After taking last week off because we were sure SXSW would release their master plan, we now return as there seems to be no end in sight to the band list embargo.
