Who Won at the Emmy Awards? The List is Here

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards are happening right now at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre in downtown. Although they will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on CBS here in Los Angeles, LAist TV Editor Tom Lewis is backstage giving us some live updates. If you do not want spoilers, then do not click or look below this paragraph. We warned you!

Critics are split on Taking Woodstock, but anything from the amazing Ang Lee is worth seeing. He'll never get the credit of other major directors, but check out his filmography and find me someone else who's taken so many successful chances. Audiences will probably avoid The Baader Meinhof Complex (LAist review here) because it makes them uncomfortable (e.g. subtitles, anti-Americanism). What I said about Ang Lee above -- apply the same words to Jeff Bridges. You say DeNiro, Hoffman, Pacino, I say Bridges! I'm not thrilled with the inclusion of Timberlake in The Open Road, but that's not enough to keep me away. World's Greatest Dad marks Robin Williams' return to challenging, difficult material. It will be too dark for many, but I liked it.

Radiohead, McCartney to Play Grammys

The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will take place in a couple of weeks here in LA at the Staples Center, and the Recording Academy has announced another batch of artists slated to perform live as part of the show, the Daily News reports. In addition to previously named performers Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, Jennifer Hudson, Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, and Carrie Underwood, comes word some of music's heavy-hitters will take the stage: Rock icon Paul McCartney (who will be at this year's Coachella fest), Radiohead (their first US tv performance in almost a decade), T.I. and Justin Timberlake together, and Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Kanye West performing "Swagga Like Us." Of course, to see all these performances live you'll have to be part of the select few with a ticket to the Feb. 8 show; as is the norm with awards show telecasts, we'll have to wait for CBS to air it 3 hours later at 8 p.m.

It was almost 10 o'clock by the time iconic music superstar Madonna hit the stage at Dodger Stadium last night, and the crowd happily lapped up her "Sticky and Sweet" candy infusion of spectacle and song.

It's hard not to notice when Jeffree Star enters a room because he is wearing high heels, has bright pink shoulder length hair, is heavily tattooed from head to toe, and carries a large Louie Vuitton purse.

How 'bout the end of that Super Bowl? Good thing Eli Manning came through because the ads really weren't all that, save for the near death of Richard Simmons (with Alice Cooper behind the wheel). But at $2.7 million per 30 seconds, who are we to not expect more?

I definitely enjoy the weather. I enjoy hanging with Strong Arm Steady, who as you know are based out here in LA and are apart of my label Blacksmith.

The deed is done. The first large production company, United Artists (UA), has made a deal with the WGA and is going to get back to work, according to the AP (via LA Times). UA's parent company, MGM, is not included on the deal.

"United Artists has lived up to its name. UA and the Writers Guild came together and negotiated seriously. The end result is that we have a deal that will put people back to work," said Patric M. Verrone, president of the Writers Guild of America, West.

With reports of The King of Pop's financial troubles continuing to moonwalk all over the press, it's hard to feel sorry for the middle aged superstar, considering he hasn't really seemed to try to work out his issues - literally. You'd think a guy like Michael Jackson could do a few concerts and collect the $212,963 that's reportedly outstanding on his $23,212,963 mortgage on his sprawling ranch north of Santa Barbara. This summer Pollstar...

My sister decided to be the best sibling in the world and buy tickets for me to see Justin Timberlake at the Mandalay Bay. The only bad part about it was that it was on September 1, smack dab in the middle of Labor Day weekend. If you've ever headed to Las Vegas or the river during this time, you know it can be a total pain in the ass. I believe the 15...

Tonight I will be at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas attending Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds show. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love not only the newest album, but also JT’s general hotness. Above, I’ve included Mr. Timberlake’s video for his single “My Love”, to display how he can make me, and plenty of other women and gay men, melt into a puddle on the floor. Generally, listening to Justin...

It was Sunday afternoon and a cool 75 degrees. It was the kind of weather that makes you want to drive off into the sunset while listening to your favorite music on full blast. Although driving to a far off place wasn't an option, I opted to roll down my windows and blare a couple summer tunes from my VW Bug.

With a new album on the way, No Place Like Soul due out July 31, and an upcoming gig here in Los Angeles at the UCLA JazzRaggae Festival this Sunday it seemed like as good a time as ever to catch up with one-third, sorry one quarter (the band just added a vocalist) of Soulive, Eric Krasno. The guitarist gives the inside scoop on the new album, his love of LA, and his budding career...

LAist only made it eight minutes into last night's American Idol results show before hitting the remote control. We just couldn't watch anymore. Watching Ryan Seacrest interview tourists at The Grove for the umpteenth time to get their opinions on the prior night's show was just too painful. Plus, it was Bon Jovi night -- all the more reason to change the channel. So we'll cut to the chase: Phil Stacey (the bald guy)...

Tonight on American Idol, octogenarian crooner Tony Bennett coached the remaining nine contestants. While we were semi-excited to hear the Idols take on the standards, LAist was really anticipating what form Sanjaya’s shape-shifting hair would take on this week? Maybe a salt and pepper gray in honor of Mr. Bennet? No such luck. This week, Sanjaya wore a ’do that was much tamer than the faux-hawk: just the simple slicked-back crooner look. But we...
