Michael Crichton, the 66-year-old best selling author of "Jurassic Park," "The Andromeda Strain," "Sphere," and "Rising Sun" has died. According to CNN, Crichton died on Tuesday in Los Angeles after a courageous battle with cancer. In addition to his best selling books, Crichton Crichton won several awards for "ER", the TV series he created with Steven Spielberg including an Emmy, a Peabody, and a Writers Guild of America Award. A private funeral service is expected.

Stan Winston, legendary Hollywood special-effects wizard, died this weekend at his home at age 62. He succumbed to multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, after a 7-year struggle with the disease. Winston created some of the most memorable creatures in modern cinema, including the Terminators, the "Jurassic Park" dinosaurs, and more recently, the character suit for "Iron Man."
