Take a Virtual Tour of Julius Shulman's House (Any Buyers?)
The realtor listing the late photographer Julius Shulman's new-to-the-market house at 7875 Woodrow Wilson Drive has assembled a beautiful virtual tour of the property, complete with facts about the house and reflections from Shulman himself, the home's sole owner since it was built for him in 1950 (and cheesy music; toggle audio off on the bottom right!).
Late Photog Shulman's Above Sunset Soriano House on the Market
CurbedLA points to a noteworthy local residential property fresh to the market. It's the Shulman house, longtime home of the late Julius Shulman, the legendary photographer whose images of mid-century modern design elevated the movement and made him and the buildings iconic.
Weekend Movie Guide: Damned Couples Education
I was excited when Couples Retreat first popped on my radar a few months ago. I mean, coupling the Vaughn | Favreau | Billingsley team with Demiurge Jason Bateman seemed like a match made in mainstream comedy heaven, right? Nope. Michael Sheen has quietly become a top-notch, see-everything-he-does actor. I know more about the Bible than I do about soccer, but I'll queue up for The Damned United just to see Sheen. It's already being written: An Education will produce one of the next great stars and that star is Carey Mulligan.
Famous LA Photographer Julius Shulman Dies at 98
Last night, Los Angeles lost a true Angeleno. Photographer Julius Shulman, 98, died last night, according to an LA Times breaking news e-mail alert.
Shulman was a blunt--yet hilarious--critic of architecture and he showed the works he loved through his work. In a new documentary about Shulman, screened in Los Angeles at Dwell on Design, he would call most of the city's housing design style a pile of junk. The audience burst out laughing.
Dwell on Design's Movie Night & Mobile Restaurant Row
This weekend is the return of the Dwell on Design conference and expo and one of the most exciting events on the schedule is Saturday's "A Night at the Movies." The evening includes screenings of two building-themed documentary films, and, for your tasting pleasure, the Square Meal on Wheels mobile "restaurant row."

So many events, so little time. Concete Frequency's latest installment is tonight and there's always Disney on Ice (skaters, not Walt), but here's a sampling of the other good stuff to be done in LA tonight.

Home Stars
The LA Times Home section takes a look at the static stars of Hollywood. No — not dead or wooden, talent-less actors, but examples from the city's vast stock of residential architecture that's seen by audiences all over the planet. After all, we do live in the world's largest back lot.
