Actress & Singer Juliette Lewis Injured in Hit & Run

A hit-and-run crash Wednesday evening in Burbank left actress and singer Juliette Lewis injured, according to the Associated Press. At about 10:15 p.m. a car ran a red light at Olive Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard (map) and collided with a Lincoln Town Car carrying Lewis. She was bruised, but not seriously hurt and brought to the hospital after she complained of head, back and neck pain. more ›

Tonight In Rock: Dr. Dog, Juliette Lewis, Kisses, Whispertown 2000

Tonight In Rock: Dr. Dog, Juliette Lewis, Kisses, Whispertown 2000

Tonight LA-based actress/musician Juliette Lewis will be gracing the Echo with none other than Parisian indie pop octet Tahiti Boy and the Palm Tree Family. LA-based electro pop duo Kisses, a small, newfangled splinter of Princeton (LAist Interview), are poised to perform in-store at Origami Vinyl, ringing in their forthcoming 7"—2010's Bermuda. And, lastly, LAist favorites Whispertown 2000 (LAist Review, #2) will be taking on the Silver Lake Lounge with female-fronted, bicoastal indie rock quintet, "both figuratively and technically," All Wrong and the Plans Change. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Henry Fonda Music Box to catch Philadelphia's own psych rockers Dr. Dog (LAist Review). Rhode Island-based rockers Deer Tick and Brooklyn-bred singer-songwriter Pepi Ginsberg are slated to kick things off. more ›

Juliette & The Licks is a Can't Miss Tonight @ The Roxy

Juliette & The Licks is a Can't Miss Tonight @ The Roxy

People have been asking me what's up with the Weekly lately and hell if I know. They do their thing and maybe new management has made them lose their edge, but maybe they're just getting olde. Seems to me that once upon a time if someone like Juliette Lewis was in town to play a Saturday night show at the Roxy with a decent bill like Scissors for Lefty and Suffrajett, the Weekly would... more ›

It's All Happening on Pancake Mountain!

Not since Pee Wee's Playhouse has there been a children's show that grown-ups can enjoy as much as kids. Washington DC's local cable-access show, Pancake Mountain, has been attracting rockers like Deerhoof, Scissor Sisters, and Arcade Fire since 2003. Scott Stuckey's concept for the program was to have a children's show that is focused on fun, not on marketing. It's all about the music, and their live dance parties invite local kids to join in by way of an email list sent out to parents. The show is produced by Stuckey's Monkey Boy Studios, and run entirely by a group of volunteers (Bands also volunteer their time). The title song is written by the drummer from Fugazi, Brendan Canty. more ›

Juliette & The Licks @ Spaceland, 6/11/07

Juliette Lewis and her band of handsome young bearded men stormed into Spaceland for a secret show that started at 9pm to accommodate the crowd of industry insiders and professionals. She promptly reminded them what rock and roll was all about. Coming off an almost endless European tour, mostly in arenas or at festivals, the Licks' fury and power were overwhelming and wonderful in the small Silver Lake club. Juliette is a star and... more ›

Smoosh @ The Troubadour, 6/11/07

Smoosh was at the Troubadour with Monster Bobby last night in support of the Pipettes. Sadly, LAist was across town at the Juliette Lewis and the Licks show at Spaceland so we don't have any reports as to how the show was in WeHo. And looking at Koga's flickr photos, it doesn't look like the Pipettes let him take any pictures - which is odd because the Pipettes are extremely easy on the eyes... more ›

Scarlett Johansson to Sing Tom Waits Songs

In what could be the best cd in a long time, or the most laughable, Fox News is reporting that Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive is negotiating with Rhino Records to record an album of Tom Waits covers. Scarlett Johansson, who earlier this month fell from a horse while filming "The Other Boleyn Girl" in England, is going to jump into the ring with the likes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, J-Lo, and Juliette Lewis... more ›
