If you missed your soaps this week, and if your ex is actually complying with that restraining order, you may be missing out on your daily dose of drama. Well, if the three-dimensional world has been too uneventful of late, I can assure you the fur has been flying in cyberspace. And if I may be so bold to ask, please grant me one giant, all-encompassing (sic) for this post. This week, Martini Republic,......

Water-coloring, jazz-listening, horse track-attending, local politics-loving, cocktail-making, Joseph Mailander is stepping down from the blog he helped form, the Martini Republic. LAist has the exclusive interview with one of our favorite LA bloggers who dares say something about the Yankees which we recommend that you ignore as we have done. LAist: There appears to be some major changes in Martini Republic, namely I see that you are not the Editor of the site any......

Yesterday thousands of people participated in the weekend long Big Sunday event: Community service erupted across Southern California during a Big Sunday volunteer weekend billed as the largest volunteer give-back in the nation. "Normally, I'd be in bed with my wife, asleep," Dexter Conner, 28, of Toluca Lake said while raking soil to create a "hidden garden" in North Hollywood. "I'm just trying to help out when I can." And help out they did......

Joseph Mailander is editor of Martini Republic, a local blog, a national blog, a political and cultural blog, but most of all, a toper's blog at heart. Beyond Joseph, Dr. Cocktail (Ted Haigh), Tod Mesirow (of Monster Garage fame) and anonyblogger Alex DeLarge (an obvious surly drunk) all monitor the beverage industry there with the kind of scrutiny that puts them at the top of all beverage industry blogrolls. MartiniRepublic's fabled drinks blog is......

Joseph Mailander is like many native Los Angelenos that you will run into -- softspoken, easy-going, but sharp as a tack, and eloquent. Head honcho of the left-leaning Martini Republic, Mailander had the opportunity to meet Ann Coulter (pictured, above) this summer and had nice things to say about her in this exclusive interview -- the same can't be said for his feelings about The Grove, Little Green Footballs, and the L.A. Times. 1.......

Martini Republic's Joseph Mailander has been noticably mum about his tête à tête with best-selling author Ann Coulter. Righty blogger Moxie, in a recent podcast said that maybe it was because he fell for her the same way she implied Mickey Kaus had. As we wait for Joseph to fess up that he was smitten by the skinny blonde, we'll have to be happy with this summary which he emailed to LAist, "mostly we......

For a woman who claims to hate liberals so much, Ann Coulter has sure hung around lefty-lovin' Los Angeles lots lately. You'd think that after her Wednesday night appearance on The Tonight Show, she would have flown back East immediately to boast that her new book "Godless" will debut at #1 on next week's New York Times best-seller's list. But instead of taking Jet Blue (do Red Staters fly 'Blue?) on Thursday (back to......

Martini Republic's editor, Joseph Mailander, claims to be the "first person to use the Trolley." LAist can verify that: we trailed behind him to be the second official passenger on board at Monday's preview of the new transit service that will serve Hollywood nightlife, Thursday through Sunday morning, 8 p.m. – 4 a.m. That service begins tonight. The Holly Trolley is more of an experience than just a hunky-dory bus ride. Besides the contemporary......
