Year in Review: 10 Notable LA Celebrity Deaths in 2010
Former Dodger Jose Lima Dead at 37
ESPNDeportes.com is reporting that former Dodger pitcher Jose Lima died this morning of a massive heart attack in his Los Angeles home. Lima was 37. In 13 seasons in Major League baseball Lima had an 89-102 record with a 5.26 ERA, however Dodger fans will remember him most for that magical season he had in 2004 helping lead the team to their first NL West title since 1995 and their first playoff win since 1988.
LAst Night's Action: Dodgers, Angels Prevail
LA Dodgers defeat San Francisco Giants 5-3. In the past when the Dodgers would lose a stretch of games they could look to Brad Penny or Derek Lowe and be pretty assured they would win. Chad Billingsley is starting to look like that this season for the Dodgers despite not getting a decision in his 7 1/3 innings pitched. The Giants would score the game tying run in the eighth inning on a bases loaded walk with Jonathan Broxton pitching to deny Bills the win. But true to form the Dodgers MVPs came through in the ninth inning with Manny Ramirez doubling, taking third on a wild pitch and scoring after Russell Martin struck out on an Andre Ethier double. Matt Kemp would emerge from his slump to hit a triple to right field scoring Ethier for the insurance run. Will Ohman would get the save pitching a perfect ninth. As Vin Scully pointed out with nine hits, nine walks and two errors the Dodgers should have scored more runs. But a win is a win.
What a Difference a Year Makes…Part 1

Catcher: 2006: Jeff Mathis/Jose Molina 2007: Mike Napoli Impact: Positive Going into last season, the Angels had let Bengie Molina go so that they could hand Jeff Mathis the job behind the dish, with Jose Molina expected to...
LAist End of the Year Sports Awards
He may no longer be a Laker, but Derek Fisher's shot with 0.4 seconds left against San Antonio was the best thing to happen to LA sports fans all year. With every Laker annoying the hell out of the city of LA, from Shaq to Kobe to Malone to the Glove to Phil to Jerry Buss to Jeannie Buss, it was always nice to know that D-Fish was around. Sure, he couldn't defend to save his life. And he probably did take too many threes. But Derek Fisher was a consummate professional who was finally rewarded for years of hard work and humility.
No! Adrian!
According to ESPN's Peter Gammons and The Sporting News' Ken Rosenthal, Adrian Beltre has signed a five-year contract with the Seattle for somewhere between $60 and $65 million.
PLAYOFFS, BABY!
This Dodgers team has been absolutely incredible. Despite a pitching rotation which has been in tatters in all season long, the Dodgers have managed a whopping 53 come-from-behind wins, and 16 when trailing after 8 innings. Talk about clutch.
Colon Cancer
Arte Moreno has been getting a lot of praise for opening up the checkbook this offseason, but teams like the Mets, Orioles, Rangers, and Dodgers could tell you that spending money does not always guarantee success. You have to spend wisely.
