Chivas USA looked to end their disappointing season on a positive note last night as they took on the Chicago Fire, but despite a strong start, the 14,825 fans that had made their way to the Home Depot Center went home disappointed following a 4 - 1 loss.

Chivas USA fell to FC Dallas last night by a score of 1 - 0 at Frisco, Texas. Dallas midfielder Break Shea put in the game’s sole goal at the 71st to give the home side the lead after the Chivas USA midfield had finally made some inroads.
LAst Night's Action: Rangers Too Hot for Angels
Texas Rangers defeat LA Angels 3-2. Angels’ starter Jered Weaver (L, 9-6) who came into the game with a 1-3 record at Rangers Ballpark at Arlington with a 4.59 ERA gave up a solo homer to Michael Young in the first inning. The Angels came back in the fifth inning when Maicer Izturis hit a double off of Cliff Lee (W, 9-4) that bounced off the end of left fielder Josh Hamilton’s glove to center fielder Julio Borbon that scored Hideki Matsui. The Rangers pulled back ahead in the sixth inning with an RBI double by Hamilton and a sacrifice fly by Bengie Molina. Mike Napoli got the Angels to within a run with a solo shot off of Lee in the seventh, however that would be the closest they would get. Lee ended up pitching into the ninth inning with closer Neftali Feliz getting the final two outs and his 26th save of the season.

Chivas USA and U.S. National Team defender Jonathan Bornstein made his way back to the training fields at the Home Depot Center on Thursday as the red-and-white prepare for tonight’s clash against expansion side Philadelphia Union.

After many months of analysis and preparation, U.S. Head Coach Bob Bradley announced his final 23 man roster that will be representing the U.S. at the upcoming FIFA World Cup South Africa tournament. As expected, L.A. Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan made the cut and leads the small contingent of MLS players making the trip. Galaxy teammate, forward Edson Buddle and Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein are the other two local players that will be joining Donovan.

Chivas USA departed for Guadalajara on Thursday morning for a week long training session in which they will face Irapuato and Club Universidad de Guadalajara before heading back to Los Angeles. Forward Maicon Santos, however, will not be amongst those travelling south of the border with the team.

The 2008 MLS season is coming to a close. On Thursday, Columbus advanced to the MLS Cup Final for the first time in franchise history with a 2 - 1 victory over Chicago. Columbus' opponent for the MLS Cup Final to be played at the Home Depot Center on November 23rd will be determined tonight when Real Salt Lake and New York face off.
