Tonight you will have to watch TNT's "Men of a Certain Age" not only because it's one of the best shows on TV, but also because there is no other new programming on at 10pm worth mentioning.
TV Junkie: It's All About Conan
What could be more important tonight than the debut of Conan O'Brien's new show, "Conan", on TBS at 11pm. Books have literally been written in to tell the story of how O'Brien got to this point in his career. Sure he's got Seth Rogen and Jack White guesting but they're not the reason to tune in tonight. It's no surprise that Letterman and Leno have lined up some heavy hitters as guests, from Han Solo to The Terminator but they won't hold a candle to Conan's storming of the late night airwaves.
TV Junkie: Weekend Picks Include Bill Burr, 'SNL' w/Bryan Cranston, & 'Bored To Death'
This weekend's picks include a stand-up comedy special by the incredible Bill Burr (tonight), Sundance's "Iconoclasts" and "SNL" with Bryan Cranston (tomorrow), and "Dexter" followed by an awesome "Bored To Death" (Sunday) - read why in the full post! Plus we picked a winner of the Butters DVD.
TV Junkie: Interviews from the 'Bored To Death' premiere
On Tuesday evening we went to the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City to see the first two episodes of HBO's "Bored To Death" as part of their celebration of the second season premiere of the series. We snapped a lot of photos and we got to speak to the following attendees...
TV Junkie: 'Bored to Death' Premiere Photo Gallery
The TV Junkie went to the premiere event for the second season of HBO's "Bored to Death" and snapped some photos of various cast members, including Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, and series creator Jonathan Ames.
TV Junkie: The interview with author and 'Bored to Death' showrunner Jonathan Ames
This was the interview that almost never was and might never be again. After lucking out last year and speaking with Ted Danson, Jason Schwartzman, and Jonathan Ames in New York at the Paley Center for Media on their "Bored to Death" featured evening, I somehow secured an actual interview slot with Jonathan Ames near his summer residence in Venice Beach in late August. We were to speak with Mr. Ames about the film adaptation of his novel, The Extra Man, starring Kevin Kline and Paul Dano as well as inspirations behind his HBO series "Bored to Death".

The TV Junkie Plan: The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, "Boston Med", "The Daily Show" (Arcade Fire), "The Colbert Report" (Chuck Close), Fallon (Mickey Rourke; Kids in the Hall)
TV Junkie: Interview with 'Bored to Death' Team of Ted Danson, Jonathan Ames & Jason Schwartzman
The season finale of HBO's "Bored to Death" is this Sunday at 9:30pm and it is a must-watch. There are plenty of McShows out there but this is not one of them and nor will it ever be. The brainchild of author and memoirist Jonathan Ames, the show about an author and part-time amateur private investigator bursts with uncompromised originality in every episode.
Jonathan Ames at 826LA
New York writer-performer Jonathan Ames is gracing our fair city this week and while he's in town he's doing some good. His performance at 826LA tonight will benefit the fab literacy organization, and your part is just 10 bucks.
Hobo rebellions and funny perversions
John Stewart recently called John Hodgman "very funny." That would be enough to keep us home playing the Daily Show video over and over, but it's not enough for Hodgman. He was center stage at the McSweeney's thing at REDCAT on Saturday and will be at Book Soup tonight. Because it's all about his book, The Areas of My Expertise, which includes the heretofore unknown Hobo Rebellion. Stewart says the book should not be taken as "real history" — and if there's anyone who knows their fake news, it's John Stewart. Tonight, 7pm, Book Soup in West Hollywood with fellow funny New YorkerJonathan Coulton.
