Teen Killed While Jogging in Sherman Oaks Hit and Run
A 16-year-old high school student was killed while he jogged on Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks yesterday afternoon. Conor Lynch was struck while attempting to cross the street by a burgundy 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV traveling northbound, reports the LAPD. The vehicle's driver, 18-year-old Moran Biton of Sherman Oaks, did not stop, and continued on for several blocks until stopped by the authorities. Biton has been arrested and booked into Van Nuys jail. Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene. The LAPD say that preliminary investigation show that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the fatal accident.
Portion of Lake Hollywood Reservoir Walking/Jogging Path to Reopen Tomorrow
The brutal drenching Southern California took back in 2005 shut down a good deal of recreational space around Los Angeles. An LAist favorite included the trail Henniger Flats in Altadena, but more locally was the loss of the Lake Hollywood Reservoir
Silver Lake Reservoir Jogging Path Set to Open
Get ready Silver Lake residents. That nice dirt jogging/walking path around the reservoir is set to officially open this Saturday morning. But that doesn't mean people aren't using it already. Curbed LA took a lap or two this morning and found it to be very attractive: "It'll make lesser pathways feel inadequate." This certainty should be a good addition to places to train for the Los Angeles Marathon, which will take place on, of all days, Memorial Day.
Coyote Bites Jogger in Griffith Park
It was just last month when coyotes reportedly killed Paris Hilton's dogs (she denied it, though), as well as pets owned by Demi Moore and Halle Berry. And yesterday, a jogger was bitten by a coyote, but her injuries were not serious and she did nothing to provoke the incident.

Silver Lake To Feel More Lakeside Lakey Like
Curbed LA is reporting that Silver Lake Meadow will open as a park, likely this summer.
The compromised plan opens a portion of the meadow--three and half acres--to the public, while the remainder of the meadow, another three acres, will be reserved for wildlife and native plants: coyotes, blue herons, gnats, ladybugs, etc. The whole opening/not fully opening of the meadow has been a touchy subject for some Silver Lake residents, who worry hordes of visitors will descend to this relatively quiet area. [Curbed LA]Addressing those concerns, the city is looking into putting a signalized crosswalk on Silver Lake Blvd. and deciding on the public hours of use and rules.
The Mud Run: Cure To Your New Year's Resolution
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. People want to lose weight this year, get in better shape, look good naked, blah, blah, blah, blah. Does it actually happen? Sure, some do. But most? We all know that reality.
Running Tonight in the Rain? Check out this Killer Playlist
Photo by imacri via Flickr You're still running to Eye of the Tiger? Then it's time to download some new tunes for your run. Most of these songs are much more aggressive than Eye of the Tiger -- Hard Metal Rock, Techno and Industrial. For people like myself, it's difficult to find good songs to run to. Everybody likes Coldplay but you can't really run to it. Here at LAist we like to encourage...
