Tonight LA-bred indie rock outfit the Happy Hollows (LAist Review, #2, #3) will be headlining the Satellite, formerly known as Spaceland. Joey Ryan & Kenneth Pattengale are poised to grace the Hotel Café, opening up for pop singer-songwriter Bleu. And, lastly, local indie rockers Le Switch (LAist Review, #2, #3) will be taking on Redwood Bar & Grill in Downtown. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echo to catch local blues-infused indie rock duo Rumspringa (LAist Review, #2), who recently released their debut full-length—2010's Sway. LAist favorites, local rock quintet Vanaprasta are slated to perform as well.
Tonight In Rock: The Happy Hollows, Rumspringa, Joey Ryan & Kenneth Pattengale, Le Switch
Tonight In Rock: Vampire Weekend, Abe Vigoda, Frankie Rose & The Outs
Tonight NY-bred indie pop outfit Vampire Weekend (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) will be headlining the Hollywood Bowl with Baltimore-bred dream pop duo Beach House and the Very Best, an eclectic musical amalgam comprised of London based production duo Radioclit and Malawi-bred crooner Esau Mwamwaya. LA-based experimental punk outfit Abe Vigoda are slated to perform at this year's Abbot Kinney Festival with none other than Long Beach natives Crystal Antlers (LAist Review), Puro Instincto, LA-based alt-rockers Olin & the Moon (LAist Interview), Voxhaul Broadcast, Kenneth Pattengale and many more. Ex-Vivian Girls drummer Frankie Rose & the Outs will be ringing in their debut disc at the Echo with LA-by-way-of-Glasgow retro 50s/60s pop outfit Neverever for this week's edition of Part Time Punks.
Tonight In Rock: Shearwater, The Watson Twins, The Living Sisters, Kenneth Pattengale
Tonight, or rather early today, local country-infused folk, twin-sister duo the Watson Twins (LAist Review, #2, #3) will be making an appearance near the Bruin Bear statue at UCLA for the LA Times' Festival of Books. the Living Sisters—a triumvirate of venerable female troubadours, which includes Inara George, Becky Stark, and Eleni Mandell—are poised to grace the Bootleg Theater with none other than pseudo-super group Black Prairie, which of course includes three moonlighting members of the Decemberists. And, lastly, local singer-songwriter Kenneth Pattengale will be performing a very special, collaborative set at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Mon Mon with folk singer-songwriter Joey Ryan. Although we strongly suggest heading to the aforementioned show, we highly recommend heading over to Spaceland to catch Austin-bred indie rockers Shearwater, who will be performing in support of their latest—2010's The Golden Archipelago. LAist favorites, Baltimore-based folk rock duo Wye Oak (LAist Interview) and Lawrence's own Hospital Ships.

Songwriter Round w/ Jay Nash, Joey Ryan, Javier Dunn & Sara Bareilles @ Hotel Cafe, 1/5/09
Songwriter Round is a semi-regular gathering of singer-songwriters, hosted by local Jay Nash (MySpace), that's usually held at the Room 5 Lounge above Amalfi on Fairfax. But Monday's edition was moved to the newly-expanded stage at the Hotel Cafe (MySpace) in Hollywood to accomodate peers Joey Ryan (MySpace), Javier Dunn (MySpace), and special guest Sara Bareilles (MySpace), who was advertised as the anagram "Lara Sarables."
